I'm pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed a sub from Storto's coz honestly, I'm not a huge fan for sandwiches. One thing that stood out to me was the freshness of the veggies, how crunchy and juicy their lettuce was. The roast beef was good, and the papaya seed dressing which was what's recommended by the cashier also went really well with the whole thing. Also love the sprouts, adding an extra layer of flavor to the experience. Every bite of my sandwich was something to savor!
I got the 8" thinking I would save the other half for dinner. After finishing my first 4", I still wanted for more so I was thinking, ok maybe 2 more inch. And after that I was like what da heck let me just finish it otherwise the thing will turn soggy. So yeah, completely amazed by how I could down the whole sub...
Their special is available on their regular menu as well so it isn't some special flavor they got. It is 50 cents cheaper though, making that a true special while a lot of restaurants have the most expensive item as their special.
Friendly staff. It's my first time there thinking ordering a special wouldn't require a slip but I did need one to choose my sauce and veg. And then me also blocking others trying to get a slip... oops sorry. The cashier kindly asked me to scoot further down. She also recommended what dressing I should get. Doh, after reading the reviews the choice was obvious then - papaya seed dressing it is.
Most of the time crowded. Try going there early to beat the crowd. I remember seeing 11am as their opening time...
Read moreIf you want a good sandwich made on soft bread and filled with meat and vegetables this is where you'll find it. Their sandwiches are better than Subway. They have a papaya seed dressing that I pour over my sandwich and it makes it taste even better. They also make salads if you're not in the mood for a sandwich.
They are located on the ground level of the Davis Pacific Center facing Queen Street. They open for breakfast and lunch. They mainly cater to the downtown crowd. The sandwiches come in 8 inch or 16 inch. If you are having a group lunch meeting, they make sandwich platters that are reasonably priced. Each platter contains 3 kinds of sandwiches and they're cut into 4 inch pieces. They do get busy at noon so I recommend calling in your order early if you have a short...
Read moreI was super excited to finally get a sub from Storto’s—I heard a lot about it and the north shore deli is always packed. I figured their food had to be awesome; however, I was extremely disappointed. I’m an NY’er and know good quality meats and bread. I realized I was probably not going to get a NY/NJ quality sub, which I was fine with, but this wasn’t even close. Pricey for a half (very small) size, a small amount of meat, and the flavor was just not there. Also, oil & vinegar should not mean balsamic vinegar—I’m sorry to say, but I’ve had better subs at Subway or Jersey Mikes. The good thing about this spot—the staff was very friendly. Locals may love it, but for me, the search for a good-quality sub on the...
