This plate lunch spot has been here a long time. Conveniently located at the corner of Alakea and King Street. they offer a large selection of plate combinations in mini and small sizes. The prices are good and the breakfast seems like a really good deal. I had a combination with fried fish, spam, gyoza, and teriyaki chicken. It was okay as the chicken looked really plain and almost parboiled versus grilled. The gyoza and fish were freshly fried and good. I think I need to try the steak since most people talk about this and especially since it is part of their namesake. For now, just on what I ordered, I would probably look around for other options. Staff was super efficient and helpful, so that was definitely good.

I had the good morning breakfast;steak and scrambled eggs. It was a good portion size plate that can hold you until lunchtime. The food was delicious though, the steak wasn't dry and the scrambled eggs was cooked right. I paid $5.50 for my food, so it's a reasonable price. Fountain drinks refill is $.50 and a variety of drinks to pick from, there is also a snack rack. Breakfast is from morning till 11am. $5 minimum purchase if using debit/credit. Check them out and support local!

Discovered this AMAZING place about two years ago when I worked at the DCCA building and visit just about every week if not every other week. Love love love the garlic steak plate and I have gotten the spicy chicken poppers a couple times and have never, ever been disappointed. From the portions to the price, it’s perfect. now that I work off Ala Moana, I still make the trip to Alakea Steak, even if I have to walk because it is just that good to me. Definitely worth a try.

Alakea Steak has great food but I'm subtracting a star for the attitude the workers seemingly have. I'm always polite and tip when I come in but the workers are always apprehensive to give you anything extra than what you specifically ask for in your order. If you don't order a bag then ask for one after, they get annoyed. When you ask for extra condiments, they get annoyed. I asked for a bag and 2 extra condiments today all up front to try and avoid this (specifically two extra condiments, on top of the two they always give) and they got annoyed because they thought extra means total and only gave 2. The old guy that works there gave me stink eye and handed me one extra condiment when their misunderstanding was the issue. Maybe its the language barrier but you would think they would appreciate their usual customers more. They easily have the most expensive fast food in the area and you get less of it than the L&L across the street for more. Supporting local businesses is sometimes the only motivation...

Great food at a little hole-in-the-wall take out spot. We went to see the King Kamehameha statue a block or two away on a Saturday afternoon and a lot of things were closed, so this is where we ended up. It was a pleasant surprise. Everything we are tasted great. Prices were reasonable. We had a bento box with a sampling of steak, shrimp, wings and Spam along with some pot stickers (I can't remember the word they used for those. All of it was good. Only negative is that there is no seating/ eating area. It's takeout only, but we found a plaza nearby and ate there...
