Alakea Steak has great food but I'm subtracting a star for the attitude the workers seemingly have. I'm always polite and tip when I come in but the workers are always apprehensive to give you anything extra than what you specifically ask for in your order. If you don't order a bag then ask for one after, they get annoyed. When you ask for extra condiments, they get annoyed. I asked for a bag and 2 extra condiments today all up front to try and avoid this (specifically two extra condiments, on top of the two they always give) and they got annoyed because they thought extra means total and only gave 2. The old guy that works there gave me stink eye and handed me one extra condiment when their misunderstanding was the issue. Maybe its the language barrier but you would think they would appreciate their usual customers more. I think I need to try the steak since most people talk about this and especially since it is part of their namesake. For now, just on what I ordered, I would probably look around for other options. Staff was super efficient and helpful, so that was...

We went to see the King Kamehameha statue a block or two away on a Saturday afternoon and a lot of things were closed, so this is where we ended up. It was a pleasant surprise. Everything we are tasted great. Prices were reasonable. We had a bento box with a sampling of steak, shrimp, wings and Spam along with some pot stickers (I can't remember the word they used for those. All of it was good. Only negative is that there is no seating/ eating area. It's takeout only, but we found a plaza nearby and ate there...
