Review:
From the moment you step into Wang Chung's Karaoke Bar, you're enveloped in an electrifying blend of energy and warmth that can only be described as intoxicating. It's not just a bar; it's an experience – a vibrant sanctuary in the heart of the city where the drinks flow as smoothly as the melodies and where every night feels like a celebration among friends, new and old.
As soon as I walked in, the eclectic decor set the stage for an evening of uninhibited enjoyment. The walls, adorned with an array of colorful artwork, create a visual symphony that complements the harmonious soundscape perfectly. This is a place where you can truly let your hair down and belt out your favorite tunes without a care in the world – and isn't that what karaoke is all about?
Let's talk about the drinks – oh, the drinks! Reasonably priced, yet far from ordinary, the selection at Wang Chung's is nothing short of spectacular. Each cocktail is a masterpiece, crafted with care by mixologists who are more like magicians, turning spirits and mixers into liquid gold. Whether you're in the mood for a classic libation or something more avant-garde, your thirst for creativity will be quenched here.
But what truly makes Wang Chung's a standout star in the nightlife galaxy is its atmosphere. It's the kind of relaxed vibe that invites you to unwind, to mingle, and to be yourself. As the night progresses, strangers become friends and friends become family under the neon glow. The laughter, the cheers, the shared moments – they all weave together into an unforgettable tapestry of joy.
And then there's the staff – the heartbeat of Wang Chung's. Friendly doesn't even begin to cover it; these wonderful folks are the epitome of hospitality. Attentive, engaging, and always wearing a smile, they ensure that your glass is never empty and your spirits are always high. They're the conductors of this euphoric symphony, orchestrating an evening where everyone feels like a VIP.
In conclusion, Wang Chung's Karaoke Bar is not just a venue; it's a vibrant community, a place where memories are minted and every night is a story waiting to be told. Whether you're a karaoke superstar or a wallflower waiting for your moment in the spotlight, you'll find your rhythm here. So come for the drinks, stay for the songs, and leave with a heart full of happy tunes. Wang Chung's isn't just incredible – it's a slice of...
Read moreA very last minute, nocturnal decision brought us here. As my gang and I aimlessly searched for someplace open past 1am in Waikiki, the pickings were surprisingly slim. We were staying at the Sheraton Waikiki and Wang Chung seemed so far on the map as we were on-foot. But, after strolling down Kuhio Avenue talking, laughing and having fun, voila, we were at the front door!
ATMOSPHERE: They're located in the back of the Stay Hotel's lobby (located behind the Hyatt Waikiki on a side street). It's a sliver of a space that was full of folks singing karaoke (pronounced kaah-rah-oh-kay, not Carrie-okie), drinking and having fun. We arrived a little after 1am and they close at 2am, so everyone was winding down and relaxed. There's a small central bar as you enter, with more seating towards the right corner though I didn't go exploring for details.
EXPERIENCE: We got drinks at the bar and hung out on the side, winding down ourselves. I'm usually a white wine drinker but chose beer for my nightcap. I've always loved Heineken but you always get that one bottle with that rotten taste, in which I received here. After a few sips, I gave it to my friend lol. In no time, they were doing last call then the bright lights and kick-out. The staff announced to please be quiet as we exited as they have neighboring apartments. Most of the crowd hung out on the street, still talking and laughing. I was surprised no one shouted at them, but they're probably used to it.
OVERALL: According to their website they serve food, but I didn't see any menus or anyone eating as it was almost closing time. We had a fun hour here and will definitely return...
Read moreJust to set the record straight for a couple of unwarranted recent reviews: I'm not sure what got Kyle Sawyer down on 5/9/24, but Chelsea and Heather treated him with respect just like everyone else who walks through the door there. I was there the entire time he and the guy he arrived with were at Wangs. The bar was very clearly still closed when he decided to let himself in just as Chelsea was about to open. She was not at all rude to him, but he was extremely rude to both her and Heather for all 30 seconds he spent there.
I can only assume it was David McHenry with him, and David barely entered the establishment even after I held the door for him because I thought it was odd he didn't follow Kyle in. I don't think he actually had a single interaction with either of the bartenders.
Everyone else had a great time last night... super chill crowd, great mix of karaoke songs, there was even a 28th wedding anniversary celebration. Overall a solidly fun night at Wangs, which is the typical experience there as Wangs is always one of the most welcoming places. All the bartenders are awesome... Heather, Chelsea, Patrick, Justin, and Nick. And...
