I’ve been wanting to try Hawaiian BBQ for a long time and haven’t come across it in the Southeast US yet. While my wife and I were visiting the Mt Hood, Oregon area, we stopped in Hood River for lunch and decided on LILO’s Hawaiian BBQ and it did not disappoint. Being from the South, I know my way around some BBQ pork and chicken and this was some of the best BBQ I’ve ever had. Seeing this place in a strip mall, most people would think that good BBQ couldn’t come from this tiny restaurant, but you have to go here! (From the look inside, it looks like an old Quiznos). I got the Kahlua Pig plate (with spicy bbq sauce) with macaroni salad and white rice and it was incredible. When you get a bite of all three together, it’s magical. My wife had the Huli Chicken sandwich that was delicious too. I couldn’t get enough of the macaroni salad. If you’re in the area, this place is a must stop. I live in Georgia and would go back to this place if I’m ever in the Portland...
Read moreFood smelled and tasted good. But I stood.at the register while the cook cooked and the other guy ran food out. He saw me standing there. He came back inside and started taking someone elses order. When it was my turn he was kind of rude. I asked him for water culs and was told rudely that they were behind me. Our food was brought out separately even though he had carried other orders together. Then as we were leaving we over heard him being rude to another customer. Customer tried to order several items and was very rudely told they were out. Customer asked for water cups and was told rudely that they were out and that he, the employee, had to wash them all. So customer asked for for paper cups and was given one. Even though he clearly had more than just himself. He had to ask for more than one. This was Saturday Auguest 10th at approx 1230ish. Also theres a whole in the wall or a spot that had been cut in square that was very...
Read moreAs far as I can tell, this seems to be the only Hawaiian BBQ within a half hour drive of me. Good thing it's AMAZING. I stopped by for lunch and ordered the Big Kahuna, which was essentially a sampler of the menu (chicken, pork, ribs, double mac, double rice). The portions of meat were slightly above average, while the portions of rice and mac were much better than average. They also tossed in a slice of pineapple and some extra BBQ sauce for free. The sauce was so heavy on the tomato that I thought it was just ketchup at first, but it paired just perfectly with the ribs and pulled pork. The flavor of everything was absolutely bomb, tasted slow cooked and homemade. I noticed that they were running a green curry lunch special for $9, but I was determined to try all the meats. Based on this experience this place is legit AF. I'm worried I'm gonna end up spending a lot of money here because it's so good. Will definitely...
