We waited a few months after they opened to hopefully have a great first experience. It was honestly just ok. I would give 2 stars for our experience and am giving them 3 only because they’ve been open a short time and I’d like to think our experience will be better when they’re more established.
I ordered several hours in advance for a 6:45 on pickup. I arrived at 6:57 and had to wait a few minutes as it was still in progress. It wasn’t a long wait, but I was surprised since it had been ordered far in advance, that they weren’t able to have it ready and waiting on time. Upon arriving home we noted that the quantity of two signature sauce trios that I ordered were not included in the order. Disappointing. Not egregious, but we did order them, we did expect to use them for our food, and they were left off. Two of the entrees I ordered I paid $4 extra for each to have lo mein subbed as the side instead of plain rice. We were very disappointed to see that by lo mein they meant plain noodles. I was expecting vegetables in with the noodles. That’s a very pricey substitution for plain pasta that’s been dredged in soy sauce. To spend $8 for two sides of these noodles felt like a complete rip-off and disappointment. It would make more sense to take the free side of rice and spend a couple dollars more for the lo mein entree. At $20 and $21 for our honey chicken and beef and broccoli with lo mein, we felt that there wasn’t enough of the main entree for the price in addition to the sad lo mein situation. We also wanted to order lettuce cups and during checkout I received a message that they weren’t currently available. Overall I would say that this was a solid 2-2.5 star experience. As mentioned, I’m only giving them the extra bump to 3 because they’re still somewhat new, but we’ll be wary to order there again. Over $60 for a weeknight meal to be not ready on time and have several disappointments just...
Read moreSince it is right down the road from us we thought we would give P.F. Chang's To Go a try. We have been to an actual sit-down P.F. Chang's and it was pretty good. My wife tried to order online, but was having issues, so I decided to give them a call. The person I spoke to could not have been less enthusiastic. We ordered a Family Meal for 2, with chicken lettuce wraps, chicken lo mein, and sesame chicken. The meal comes with white rice. What a disappointment! Granted, it was better than Panda Express, but as we ate I kept imagining the food sitting in stainless steel containers in a bath of hot water in order to keep it warm since it was made in bulk hours earlier. The lo mein was terrible; I mean, even Panda Express' lo mein is pretty good if you can get it fresh! Overall quality and flavor left a lot to be desired. About a week and a half later I drove past P.F. Chang's To Go, to go to China Wok on Stoneybrook (NOT the China Wok on Winter Garden Vineland Rd.!) and got some delicious Chinese take out that I ordered online before I left for work that day. Their lo mein is delicious, and dare I say, tastes even better the next day, reheated (which was certainly NOT the case with P.F. Chang's). If you want my advice, drive past P.F. Chang's To Go, and go to China Wok on Stoneybrook for FRESH "Mom and Pop" local business, delicious, Chinese take out. I have been a faithful customer of theirs for about 11 years because I have yet to find a place in the local Winter Garden area that is better over all. I will have to say that Beijing Tokyo, across the street from China Wok and a few doors down from Hagen O'Reilly's has some KILLER General Tso's chicken! Probably the best I...
Read moreMaybe because it was Valentine's night and they seemed overwhelmed. Checked in with proof of reservation, and was told they didn't have it and are you sure you have one? I showed them my text from the Wintergarden restaurant. The hostess said, well, you're not in our computer but we'll put you in except you'll have to wait between 40 to 50 minutes for your table. No apologies for the mix up or thank you for your patience. She stared at us until we moved. What an attitude. When we were finally seated, the table was barely set, with wrapped silverware on one corner. It took a while before our server came. We ordered and when the steamed dumplings came out, we had to ask for plates! And the dumplings were FROZEN in the middle. I'm not so sure Changs cooks from scratch like they claim! They did replace our appetizer and bring appetizer plates. When the Main course came out the serving dishes were set in front of us and a big bowl of rice was placed in the middle of the table. Again, no plates! (No one asked if I wanted brown rice.) So we used appetizer plates, which we'd set aside, assuming we'd get fresh, but no. The food was meh. The chicken broccoli tasted good but I could tell the broccoli wasn't cooked with my dish because it was kind of scattered on the plate in oversized chunks without any sauce on them at all. Kind of like someone remembered broccoli at the last minute. The whole experience felt like we were camping and not at a nice restaurant. So...
