Good value, good food. Discount for paying in cash. Small spot with tightly packed seating. I’m not sure I would want to be there with a full house, as all the tables are pushed very close together. We were there on a Friday night, and dining room was perhaps ⅔ full, and did not feel crowded, though our table was tiny. Parking lot can be tight.
Worse bread by far of any local Italian restaurant. It had the consistency of sponge cake. Do not order the bruschetta, as it will be constructed with this bread which quickly becomes soggy. Bruschetta toppings were pretty good. Tomatoes had better flavor than typical supermarket tomatoes, but not as good as garden tomatoes. Pancetta was fine; mozzarella was good quality, though not on the level of a mozzarella di bufala or burrata.
The portabella mushroom appetizer was delicious. Topped with crabmeat, mozzarella, and roasted peppers. I did not notice the crabmeat, but all the flavors came together very well. It was awkwardly served in a soup tureen.
Chicken Maddalena is a winner. The wine sauce was flavorful and sun-dried tomatoes plentiful. This dish uses thin chicken cutlets, which can become chewy, but in this case they were tender and cooked perfectly.
Grilled Red Snapper special: Good, though not a memorable dish. Lots of spinach, maybe a little crab meat in there somewhere, and large artichoke hearts that were more of a side rather than a part of the dish. Overall not disappointing, but probably would order something...
Read morePlace is overrated upony finally dining at Cafe Lombardi. The ownership must be sponsors of.some academic project or athletic team in Horsham to garner such seemingly great reviews.
We were the only people in the place and yet food took 35 minutes; which was great news to my 8-year old since it meant more 🍞 We are talking children's pasta and I can't even recall what I ordered but I think it was chicken parm. I brought wine and was waiting for proper glassware. Are these not Italians who know a water glass from a red wine (Barolo specifically)??? Oh at this point the professional waitress left ( it was an early Sunday) and the older woman that took over had to be family from her demeanor and how she addressed the Hispanic staff. This is where things got weird. She started giving unsolicited input on my wine consumption, myself Kid's appetite for endless 🧺 of bread 🍞 and the absolute 🍒 on top of this attempt at waitressesing was when she declared I had enough food ordered and didn't need an order of Italian sausage!!!!!! I have cancer and weigh 125 pounds on a great day but have sank as low as 112.
Never been talked out of ordering food at a trattoria!!! Since it was Christmas time, I have respect for my elders and frankly I was just tired and in a hurry to get home to make merry.
On the positive side: the 1st waitress was very nice, the bread was fresh and myndaughter loved...
Read more**Update: recently had a company party hosted here and I have to say the experience was substantially better. The staff was friendly, attentive, knowledgeable and accommodating. Actually getting a chance to sit and take the restaurant in was very enjoyable. I had a salmon dish that was cooked perfectly. The bruschetta app we had was very tasty and the desserts were delicious. Got to try the cannoli and pecan cheesecake which were scrumptious. Don't know what happened with the whole lasagna thing prior (might have just been one of those off days) but I can say I would be happy if asked to meet up for dinner again. Again thank you to the Cafe Lombardi staff 💕
This place came highly recommended by a friend who took their SO for an anniversary dinner. Excitedly ordered take out as I only lived 2 mins down the road. Unfortunately the food did not at ALL leave a good impression. The lasagna I ordered was a bland & oily tasting soup looking slop accompanied by an equally unappetizing garlic bread which was tough and chewy. I would expect this level of food from the mall food court and wasn't jazzed on how much this cost me. Needless to say it's not worth ever ordering from here again when amazing places like Bistro Albertino's is right down the road. Heck I've had a better experience eating at the OLIVE GARDEN for...
