Our first time here on our way to a UH game. Initially, I thought it looked fun with all the lights and decor, but unfortunately the food was a miss. The restaurant is dirty they had broken machines and supplies everywhere. The trash areas have splattered food clearly old and visible. My husband got the tinga quesadilla’s. He liked it but he said the napkin tray was very dirty and the floor was very sticky. I got the torta. The torta was hard and crunchy. I wasn’t a fan of a toasted torta it scraped the roof of my mouth. The chips and salsa was 3.99 usually their free but I assumed it must be good if they’re charging. Nope the chips were stale so we exchanged them. The salsa was very watery with tomatoe sauce and a hint of jalapeño. Green salsa was not good. Definitely all onion. Cold red salsa bitter and not spicy. To me a Mexican restaurant must have good salsa. I tried all 3 and unfortunately they weren’t even decent. I tried to got the the woman’s restroom and one stall had tape and yellow signs indicating it was out of service. The next stall was locked from the inside. No restroom service but the sinks were available. I see no reason to return. I wish them well. Their aqua de melon and limon was good. They’re looking for a management so I give them props for knowing they need it. They’re also hiring a bilingual...
Read moreI was there to hear the mariachis for Mexican Independence Day. First and foremost, the mariachis were advertised to perform from 6 to 9 p.m. The times were advertised with a flyer at the restaurant plus on Facebook. They didn't come until 7 p.m. I rushed to get there by 6 p.m. to grab a table. The place wasn't crowded at all. Perhaps it's because it was a Monday. Furthermore, I wanted to take my Dad who's in his 80s and enjoys mariachis. Through Facebook messenger, they had told me they don't reserve tables. When I arrived, a big section was reserved for the family of the owner. I understand that part. But there was a second table on the second row reserved too. I decided to order a pineapple margarita. They cost $9 with house tequila. That's pricey for the small one. And it was nothing to write home about. For my meal, I ordered black bean sopes with no onions. They're ok. They forgot the cilantro. And the sopes tend to be dry. I was craving something sweet and got a tres leches slice. Their cake is delicious. However, it didn't come with the mini Mexican flag nor colored red and green sugar it had been advertised as. My friend did enjoy her tacos thoroughly. She's Mexican and says they're really authentic. The mariachis hired to perform at the restaurant for Mexican holidays always put on...
Read moreThe food was good , scenery was very cultural, they had no homemade salsas which was a huge disappointment; because what’s a taco without a bomb salsa right... they had some tomatio salsa that was blended raw but that was bland and they also had the bottled ones like salsa Valentina etc , the menu was pretty big , HOWEVER you’re not allowed to mix meats on anything so if you’re to get an order of tacos (3) or tostadas (2) each order has to be one type of meat.. you can’t have 1fajita and 2 tinga etc .. I feel this is very inconvenient especially if you’re eating for one or in small group.. just doesn’t make sense ordering so much food .. Hispanic to Hispanic the menu was definitely expensive compared to your average tacos , BUT it’s understandable given the area , I understand they have to make their margin profit. They have a huge selection of Mexican beer/ nice sized TVs to watch games. Now on to the restrooms , they can be a little more cleaner , the hallway had an awful pee smell. Fountain drink station can be more up to date , organized and cleaner. I more than likely wouldn’t go back because the salsa is a deal breaker for me. Great...
