My friends Gabachos.... I was Armandos's client since I was a baby. I am not Mexican so I did not know better of the taste.
I grew up eating bitter enchiladas, dry rice, oily sauce, salty soups, over cooked vegetables, and I believed margaritas were amazing to a point I stop dinking them because every time I had one I woke up next day with a hang over. So one day I took my Mexican friend to Armando's and suddenly he asked me to leave because everything from service, to the horrible taste Wine base margaritas (Not tequila base be-careful with your liver:(...
so he took me around to the original Tex-mex cuisine and I was amazed by all the quality of food, great service friendly staff. I felt fresh just by seating on the atmosphere.
one thing about Armando's is that they do not clean the walls neither the floors or carpet. they have nasty fans blowing the dust around while you eating imagine all the germs, But that was the only place I could go eat because is a block away from my house.
To what they charge for a meal or a drink is totally over price.
So I visited yesterday and I took my oriental friend and he was also discussed by the food.. while eating the manager asked us to move to another table because they were setting up for a party of 40 people. Imagine chewing nasty food, bad service, paying and on top you get moved around like their mama's tortillas. Also while we were eating manager decided to have a family talk with all the staff while were in need of water, and on top of that she had her behind on the table you will eat your next meal.
Also if its consider fine dining (why in the world you have to eat on top of sheet of paper that protects real table cloths)
TABC should inspect what they mix on liquor, and health depart should shut down the service of their nasty food.
This restaurant is an insult to the real Tex-Mex cuisine. So my friends do not be afraid...
Read moreI just had the most fabulous party for 50 in my home and Armando’s catering made it a success!!! I knew the food would be fantastic, that’s a given. We had a fajita bar with chicken, beef and shrimp, plus queso and guac stations, chips, sauces, rice & beans, tortillas and margs on the rocks. Spectacular. But the absolute rock stars who made my party soooo effortless, were the servers/bartenders: Karen, Yane and Maria. REQUEST THESE LOVELY QUEENS!!! They were soooo sweet, totally organized, FAST, and came up with a million ideas I hadn’t thought of. All three have a very artful eye and displayed my buffet so beautifully. Much more so than I envisioned and I’m veryyy particular about the details and decor. They passed drinks and dessert, as well as served at the bar and beyond. They were everywhere all at once. It was amazing!! They quickly cleared the chafing dishes off the bar and replaced them with dessert trays. Then they stored all the food in containers, organized my pantry when they put my things away, whew!!! I’ve had small catered events (Thanksgiving) but nothing as full service as this. Also, this was the largest party I’ve had in my house, so anxiety was high. But as soon as I met these three lovely women, the anxiety was gone. I knew they had me. They allowed me to be a guest at my own party. This was a discerning crowd, and everybody said it was one of the best parties they’ve been to in a very long time. None of that would have happened without Armando‘s and Karen, Yane and Maria. I can’t thank you enough!!! Seriously! Beyond touched at the extra effort by all. Again, if you’re having a catered event by Armando‘s, request this trio!!
Almost forgot, shout out to Brittanni, one of the catering associates who I communicated with in the planning of this party....
Read moreArmandos on Westheimer is not your typical Tex-Mex restaurant. There are white tablecloths and they don’t serve chips and dip. With that aside, Armandos does serve excellent food! Went for brunch with a few others and everyone raved about the side of beans - smoky and slightly mashed to perfection. We went for restaurant week and appreciated that the chef would allow us to choose from either the restaurant week menu or the normal one. We ended up ordering from the restaurant week menu that included a main dish and a dessert for $25 (plus tax and tip). Two in our party ordered the steak and eggs, which added $15 per order, which was fine overall however the steak was not cooked as requested. Due to the nearly non-existent service, it was not worth waiting to ask to have the steak cooked more. We were there for brunch, arrived at 1:30 pm with less than a handful of other tables present. Our waiter was more concentrated on cleaning up after the guests left, which meant our water glasses sat empty for up to 15-20 minutes at times. The waiter also forgot to bring the order as requested for the huevos rancheros - asked for the chorizo, which is part of the meal, on the side, meal arrived without it and when I asked for it to be brought to the table an additional $3 charge appeared on the bill. While we are glad that we were not rushed out of the restaurant, being neglected and having to wait for extended periods is also to be avoided. It was our first time there and likely our last despite the flan served for dessert one of the best I’ve ever had. Disappointing service unfortunately left a...
