I would have ordered more since I was craving Korean fried chicken and waited weeks for this moment. I’m glad I stuck to the half&half first to try. I’ve dined at bb.q Korean before and the taste is not how it was this day. First, Jillian was very clueless with the bb.q rewards and how to show me how to redeem them. When it came to choosing chicken flavors she was unhelpful as well. It was only my family of 4 when we entered the establishment no other customer so I should had the full attention and service. Her & 2 other male staffs were just standing around chatting on the phone. The chicken had tasted like cleaning products. Have you ever ordered a burrito and they had just spray wipe the counter? Now the outside of your wrap has this cleaning product smell? Yes. My golden chicken and secret sauce chicken had this unbearable smell and taste that came with the smell. Even if I held my nose, which I tried, it still had this taste. Which is crazy. I just wanted KOREAN fried chicken specifically. My husband order fried pickles and they were burnt and uneasy because of the over cook and SMELL. I suggest you should add a sauce to the fried pickles, it needs a sauce (when not burnt and overbearing with cleaning product smell/taste). If Jillian was more knowledgeable about redeeming rewards through the app, I would have been able to receive the rice or BIRTHDAY kimchi rice to try. But on the other hand I did not want to order anything else. I was so disappointed, this ruined my tastebuds for the rest of the day and to even go get better Korean fried chicken elsewhere or in the future. Even my child did not finish his 1 piece of chicken and this boy can eat 7-8 pieces. Same as a my husband. My husband believes the oil hasn’t been changed because he also works in the kitchen. When paying, the guy asked how was our experience, I said not good but he did not respond to ask why. We would never come back here nor recommend this location with the service and food we received. This was such a big disappointment. I thought this location would be a hit considering its location. I’m writing to share for this location to be trained better and to find more awareness. You guys also have a sign for no refunds. No refunds is fine but maybe a replacement? Not sure how the replacement would not still come out the same way. Came with family. Restaurant wasn't busy when we got there. The staff was goofing around as we waited for service to the point we thought this was the kind of restaurant that we order at the counter. So, we did that. That confused the front desk as well as ourselves when he thought we were ordering takeout. Since, we had already been seated at this point.
The music was really loud and played songs with quite a bit of explicit lyrics. I saw the staff searched for "youngz" and played some Nicki Minaj which sounded like hip hop/rap. Nothing against that genre of music, but it's not the kind of atmosphere I'd recommend subjecting yourself to when trying to enjoy a meal at a restaurant that sells Korean wings. There was also a family with kids dining at the same time at a different table.
Chicken was OK, crispy but nothing special. We ordered the cheeselings, honey garlic, and secret sauce. Sauces were salty. Honey garlic didn't taste like honey or garlic and came out dark. The secret sauce tasted heavy of garlic and was more like a crawfish/cajun sauce.
Overall on food, service, and atmosphere are all one star. Go somewhere else. We...
Read moreOnly been to this location twice, and each time was consistently good. Chicken is as good quality as other locations, sometimes with more seasonings it seems. But today I’m really sad to have found some kind of bug after finishing the chicken (maybe baby roach? But was too squeamish to look closer, will just include a pic). I usually don’t have this kind of problem with any of the locations, so hoping today was just an honest mistake. Favorite flavors are soy garlic and cheesling, but only got the cheesling today. To note what another person commented on lunch portions (though I’ve not yet ordered lunch specials from the Bellaire location), they do seem not as meaty, or skimpy either on portion or seasonings at other locations so just be aware. Will still come back so long as this bug thing isn’t a consistent issue. They are my favorite Korean fried chicken place to frequent when I can make it.
