I love tamashi. I’ve been to almost every ramen place in Houston and I can safely say tamashi sits at the top of the list. Incredible broth and even better obviously freshly made noodles always cooked to perfection. I’ve yet to have a bad bowl here from the dozens of times I’ve been to any location throughout Houston. Unfortunately when it comes to this bellaire location, every time I’ve been here, which has been about 10 since they opened. My sushi I order although delicious over all. Is always ruined by the fact that the rice is incredibly undercooked. Every. Single. Time. It’s incredible how consistently bad it is. This last Sunday I went with the family and it had been a while since I’d been to this location. Lo and behold of course the tonkotsu was a 10/10 (I did notice significantly less broth though) but unfortunately the sushi suffered the same issue it seemingly can’t overcome here. Some of that rice was like chewing into a cracker. I don’t understand why it’s always so undercooked. Besides this everything is was perfect. The attention from servers is always top notch. Atmosphere is awesome. I’m a huge fan of one piece and every location always having the walls or at least something showing one piece is awesome. I will say this location seemed to pick the worst type of wallpaper. If they had done what the ikea location did and take manga panels as wallpaper I think it would look nicer and be a better contrast. That’s just a nitpick though, and I will be coming here as much as I can. I just hope the rice situation with the sushi...
Read moreWhen I had first tried Tamashi's ramen about a few years ago, I was instantly impressed and became a loyal customer, with the Curry Tsukemen and Tamashi Menn being my favorites. However, I've recently become disappointed to learn that their menu isn't exactly transparent. Despite their menu noting "shrimp-based broth" for their Tamashi Menn & their menu noting that they take off pork per request, I've heard (and confirmed over the phone), that they mix pork broth in with the shrimp-based broth (although this isn't noted on their menu), even when you request for the pork meat itself to be taken off. You have to specifically mention that you have a pork allergy/inquire about the broth, but I just want to highlight that as the menu notes it's a shrimp-based broth, it's a bit misleading to not also note that there's pork broth mixed in as well. I confirmed over the phone that the only pork-free broths are the curry tsukemen and shoyu ramen. Although I genuinely enjoyed their ramen, I don't think I'll be returning, as I genuinely don't like feeling like I've been mislead. To management: I genuinely suggest to be fully transparent on your menu, not only to better service your customers, but to even avoid any potential legal issues that may pop up. To any Muslim/Pork-Free person looking to come here: even if you ask for the pork meat itself to be removed, make sure you order only the curry tsukemen or shoyu, as the Tamashi Menn isn't as pork-broth free as the menu may lead...
Read moreGood experience, nice vibes, good food and come out fast, the staffs are really helpful to take time for use to order the food, and we changed the table because it was cold at the front side of door, and they are okay with it. Also I like the wall design of one piece anime character shows on it, we had ramen and beef and lamb stews, sushi, and squid grill, everything is in the good tasting point, I just wish they can offer a little more portion of the size food, haha, I don’t know, maybe just me that was super hungry so I felt isn’t enough for me. The dog on the side wall is very cute, remind me my old dog, small, tiny little cute dog that always have mean face, like little guy wants to be strong masculine type of dog. We ordered two ramens, the spicy one is very very good, I believe it’s on the recommendation list on the menu, it’s says top #1 on it, “spicy shrimp ramen” the shrimp is tasty and not too spicy, which is very good for me, because I can’t eat spicy but I like spicy food. So the spicy ramen is not that spicy for the people who can’t eat spicy, if you are the one who can’t eat spicy but also love to try, I will recommend to try it out. You will not be disappointed. Also we ordered beef and lamb stews, I don’t like the beef that much, feel like too dry.. but the lamb stew is very good, very tender, juicy, and tasteful in my mouth, i will go back order more next time and try out new flavors of different ramen when I visit...
