Bill's Cafe — Restaurant in Houston

We were going to go on a dinner date at a popular, well known restaurant. However, when we got there, the wait time was ridiculous and it was just so loud and chaotic. My boyfriend googled and found this place. I'm so glad that we gave it a try. It was very small inside, but so cozy and quaint. The atmosphere is very warm and inviting. The service was superb. The waitress was so patient and kind. She made sure to check on us several times. The food was amazing. I had a grilled chicken sandwich and my boyfriend had a cheeseburger. The chicken was cooked perfectly. It was juicy, tender and flavorful. The cheeseburger was juicy, perfectly cooked and the toppings on the burger were fresh. My boyfriend said it's one of the best he's had. We both had onion rings, which were crispy and flavorful. We had the cheese sticks appetizer and oh my gosh, they were the best we've both had anywhere. They were cheesy and melty inside and so crispy on the outside. They flavor was phenomenal. Still the same great place. I had the chicken salad again and it was yummy. The food is more pub grub than restaurant but still very good.

The women's restroom had 2 stalls and one sink. It was old but clean. I only saw one handicapped parking space but there was a ramp that connected the spot with the outside part of the cafe.

There is also a large kid-friendly grassy area around some outside seating.

A great place for an informal get together or an early family dinner with the kids.

Met several friends here. We sat outside, but were under cover with a ceiling fan.

Everyone said the food was excellent. I had the chicken salad on a croissant with sweet potato fries and both were excellent.

The drinks were all self serve in to-go cups from a fountain station, unlimited refills, and the beer was also self serve in bottles. When it came time to pay, the waitress simply counted the empty beer bottles.

Went for some burgers. Got 2 burgers and some fried mushrooms to go. The fried mushrooms were really good. Nice breading that didn't crack and fall off willy nilly. The mushrooms were the perfect size, bite sized. Not too large, not too small. Came with a white and pink dipping sauce. I liked the white, the wife the pink. Nice change from fries. Now the burgers. I ordered mine with provolone, the wife with cheddar. They looked awesome. Fresh ingredients, lettuce, nice amount of onions and pickles. Nice looking tomatoes (on my wife's, I don't like scuzmaters). Nice bun, cooked medium. Should have hit all the right buttons. But both of us thought they were mediocre. Not sure why, but neither of us could taste the cheese. The veggies on them were good, but overall, for us, just so so. They were not bad in any way, just not as good as we had hoped.
