I had seen some mixed reviews on Google Maps before visiting Blue Dixie Kitchen, so I went in with my guard up. However, once I arrived, my experience was actually very positive. I went during a slower hour, so there were not many people in the restaurant. There was only one employee working behind the bar, handling both the bar service and the tables. Even though she was the only one working, she was hustling and doing a great job making sure everyone was taken care of. I ordered the steak, and it came out exactly as I requested. The steak was cooked perfectly and tasted fresh and flavorful. The French fries also stood out because they tasted freshly cut rather than frozen, which I really appreciated. Overall, I had a great experience at Blue Dixie Kitchen. I can understand that if it were busier and only one person was working, it might not be quite as smooth. But for my visit, everything was on point, and I would definitely recommend checking it out.

A restaurant located in the Holiday Inn Houston-Intercontinental Arpt. I was taken here by my sister after it had rebranded and renamed itself. It was just ok with slightly above average hotel food despite my sister craving about it. On my second time there I noticed the menu was paired down greatly to a single 8×11 page w items on 2-sided. The fare is akin to old school dinner food. Service is spotty in my opinion. Time wise you should realize you shouldn't be in a rush because the meals take a minute. Wasn't pleased when we were sat next to some oil guys who conversation loudly bleed over into our family discussion (wasn't happy about that). The entire restaurant is an open air venue with a large section to the right upon entry and a smaller area to the left. There is also a lazy short bar. Really can't stress the acoustics being horrible if your a group of 3+ next to another 3+ is brutal hearing. The food was fair at best.

We had a overnight stay at a nearby hotel and was looking for southern Houston cooking close by- ou van driver recommended this place as it was inside the Holiday Inn and a five minute walk from our hotel. The hostess Barbara was awesome. She greeted us with a beautiful smile, very friendly and professional. Our server Carlos was great, very helpful and knowledgeable with our order. We decided on the Brisket, Country Fried Chicken- with mashed potatoes, whipped sweet potatoes, macaroni and cheese, green beans, rolls, and sweet tea. Everything was hot and tasty. We felt we got alot for the price. Overall good experience for a quick sit down meal

I prefer short and informative reviews, but saying the service was poor won't do. Although it may have been an off day for staff, this seemed like bad work culture. It wasn't particularly busy-- 4 tables being served at the time with 2 servers. It took 15 minutes before they finally took our orders. Meanwhile, others were waiting patiently to be served in some manner; a family needed their check, a man wanted another drink, and another man was waiting to order. Staff seemed occupied by smaller tasks and were talking with each other a bit, but seldom did staff check on the tables. After some time, the family all walked up to the bar to get their check, the man walked up to the bar to ask for another drink, and the rest of us kept waiting for our orders to be taken. Meanwhile another family came in and waited 10 minutes before being greeted. When they were seated, they were pointed in the direction they should go. They seemed confused and another staff member pointed generally where they should go but also didn't walk them to the table. Staff seemed checked out and preoccupied. Our food didn't arrive together and my wife waited for another 10 minutes before she got her entree. The restroom was in need of cleaning and while we were there, I noticed a staff member use the toilet but didn't wash their hands. Perhaps, they washed later but that was concerning. While away with my son, my wife's food arrived with the other man's order as well. My wife tried to tell the waiter but he walked off and didn't seem to hear her. Again, checked out... After a couple minutes my wife overheard the waiter ask the man at the other table what he ordered. My wife spoke with the man at the table across the room, asking if the extra meal on our table was his. The waiter then realized his mistake and grabbed the plate and served it to the man across the way who was waiting that whole time for his food. In that time, a staff member who appeared to be leaving for the day walked by the phone that was ringing and hesitated before taking the phone off the hook and immediately hanging it up before she walked out. There were a few other small things like not getting drinks refilled, needing to get our own napkins and silverware, and more waiting for the server to come around so we could get our check paid. Other than that, the food tasted good and was priced reasonably for...

World’s worst experience! Sat at the bar and was passed over several times just to get waited on. Ordered the Spinach dip that is supposed to come in a Wheat Bowl. Nope! Comes in a ceramic bowl. Argued w the bar tender over it. The Dixie Nachos are supposed to come with Queso but comes instead with liquid cheddar. Supposed to come w Sour Cream. Nope! Had a HARD TIME ordering the next round of beer! Then had to argue w the bartender about getting the happy hour price. She disappeared so we had to ask the buss boy for the beer. I mean he had been getting other people beer. Of course he didn’t get it for us so by the time the bartender showed back up, she said it was 2 minutes past happy hour and we had to pay full price! We told her that we ordered it from the busboy and she said, “Well I’m the bartender”! A Lady came in and sat next to us. She had to get her own menu, ask for napkins multiple times, cldnt get a second round of drinks. Then about 2 min after she ordered her food to go, she asked the bartender if she cld change that and get it for here. The bartender said, “Well I mean I’d have to go back and tell the kitchen”, and just stood there and looked at the lady. The lady was in severe pain and had a difficult time walking. She just wanted to rest at the bar and eat her food, then go to her room. Well, she had to eat her steak out of a styrofoam container. Let me add that my wife and I along with the other lady are white and we’re obviously being treated differently than the non white customers. So then as we were leaving, the lady next to us said, “have a good night”, and I said, “thanks but I’ll never come here again”. The bartender heard me and yelled, “BYE” in an extremely rude manner! She cldnt care less that we were upset and that she received no tip! I think she was very happy to get rid of the white guests! She embarrassed my wife and I in front of the other guests! Absolutely horrible!!!!!! This is hooked to the Holiday Inn. We discussed this whole thing w the Hotel Mgr on Duty, Deirdre. She was awesome! The bartender really needs to find another...

Blue Dixie Bar and Grill is an absolute gem! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by the warm, inviting atmosphere—a perfect blend of classy charm and Southern hospitality. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel like you’ve found your new favorite spot the second you step through the door.

For the appetizer, I had the brisket-loaded potato skins, and let me tell you, they were heavenly. The combination of tender, smoky brisket with gooey cheese and perfectly crisp potato skins was a match made in culinary paradise. It was the kind of dish you don’t want to share—but it’s so good you’ll want everyone to try it.

For my entrée, I went with the bourbon citrus salmon, which was cooked to perfection. The salmon was moist, flaky, and packed with flavor, and the bourbon citrus glaze was the perfect balance of sweet and tangy. Served alongside fluffy rice and fresh, vibrant vegetables, the dish felt both indulgent and wholesome.

I couldn’t resist finishing the meal with the hot fudge brownie, topped with vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of caramel. The brownie was rich, decadent, and just the right amount of fudgy, while the ice cream and caramel added a luscious sweetness that tied everything together beautifully.

The drinks deserve their own spotlight. The bar selection is impressive, with something for everyone, but the margarita I had was easily one of the best I’ve ever tasted. Perfectly balanced, with just the right kick, it was the ideal complement to the meal.

The service at Blue Dixie is what truly sets it apart. The staff was friendly, efficient, and full of personality, making the experience all the more enjoyable. They made sure every detail was perfect without being overbearing—a fine balance that’s hard to find.

If you’re looking for a place with phenomenal food, expertly crafted drinks, and a welcoming yet refined vibe, Blue Dixie Bar and Grill should be at the top of your list. It’s not just a restaurant; it’s an experience. Can’t...
