Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen — Restaurant in Houston

Absolutely terrible! We had a large party and called in advance for a heads up and for early preparations, however when we arrived nothing was in place. When we were finally seated we had a rude Black-American server named Alex. I wouldn’t even be surprised if the manager gave us a fake name but supposedly thats what she is called. Immediately the waiter displayed an attitude and had rudeness towards us when all we wanted to do is place an order. It was close to closing and she kept reiterating that our guest that hadn’t arrived wouldn’t be let in after 10. We understood but the waiter still was in a rush and the look on her face and tone continued to show an attitude for no reason. My party and I decided to take pictures to remember the special occasion and when the waiter came with the drinks she seemed angry that we were taking pictures and rudely navigated between us without saying excuse me and placed the drinks on the table. Soon enough our food arrived and everyone was seated. The waiter spilled our ranch on herself but we didn’t mind it because people make mistakes. The worst part happened when she dropped the whole tray of food and stormed off angry. A minute later the manager comes and claims that the waiter said that the young children in our party knocked down the food. Luckily we had 2 tables around us that verified no children knocked down the food as all the children were seated and couldn’t possibly have done that, it was from the waiter’s own actions. The blatant lie that the server had placed on my party is unacceptable! To lie on children is absolutely terrible and on top of that she has no customer service skills. Everyone around us was completely shocked when the manager told us this lie because it’s absolutely not true. This entire location needs to be reevaluated for the way they hire employees who fail to take accountability and lie on customers, especially children! After talking to the manager all she could say was that they would remake the food and didn’t even acknowledge the wrongdoings of her employee besides brush it under the rug. On top of that we asked for another server and the same one who lied on us served us again! When the remade food arrived she deliberately slammed our food on the table when handing it to us demonstrating her disservice towards us. We didn’t want to stay any longer so we left ASAP! This employees behavior is disgusting and we will not be returning to this Cheddars or any Cheddars at all! Our highlight of the night is when other employees complained to us privately about her nasty behavior, further proving that our treatment that day was intentional. On our bill they had forgotten our to-go order and could only offer a measly 10% discount after everything we endured.

Moral of the story, do not come to this Cheddars unless you want to experience lack of accountability and terrible customer service. If I could give 0...

This is one of the worst experiences I’ve had with a restaurant on Saturday, May 22, 2021. The hostess was rude, we told her our party size we were very in comfortable at our seating arrangement. When we told her we needed a different table she told us we had to wait again for a while. We asked to speak to a manager she stated he will tell you the same thing but he will come to speak to you shortly. (Keep in mind this is the hostess). We were seated at 8:01 pm and waiting for the manager to come speak to us. After several minutes the server greeted us and took or beverage order. It took forever to get our beverage after her saying I’ll be right back over and over and over and over again AND the beverage order was incorrect. Meanwhile while waiting on the beverages and appetizers we placed our entree order, still no manager. I waited as long as I could and finally stopped a young man that appeared to be a manager. He was not aware of our problem until I spoke to him. I told him how rude the hostess was and he said she never told him we wanted to speak to him about getting a another table. While sitting there, this is the same server, another party came after us. They received their beverages, meal, and final ticket all while we were still sitting and waiting, remember we had the same server. While the manager was standing I asked him at 9:20 pm. We were seated at 8:01 it is know 9:20 do you see one entree on this table? He didn’t answer told some of the workers let me find out what’s going on with their food. We finally received our food. Lord have mercy time for the final check this SAME SERVICE, I’ll be right with you, I haven’t forgot you, etc etc etc almost another freaking hour passes. The manager took off two entrees not ungrateful but we arrived at 7:23, seated at 8:01, no food at 9:20, after 10:00 still waiting on final check, finally finalized after 10:45 pm. This was bad. First off, when recommended someone said they didn't like it but I said I've never been and I can't go by your experience. Not to mention they had never been to the one here in Texas so, we went. Well I should have listened.

The waitress (Marian) made suggestions that really seemed she didn't know anything about the food or drinks but was acting as she did to get you to purchase it. There was a request for a strawberry margarita. Marian asked on rocks or frozen, she was asked which was stronger, she humped her shoulders. If you don't know, ask someone who does. That can be so helpful to the success of your career as a waiter/waitress. No one expects you to have tried everything but dont pretend you're getting over when you're really making a fool of yourself.

I ordered the vegetable plate which came with four sides. I got mac & cheese, steamed broccoli, buttered off-the-cob corn (canned) and the loaded baked potato. I didn't ask what their "loaded" potato consists of but it came out with bacon bits and shredded cheese sprinkled on it.

Words for the owner, great idea to offer a Veggie plate. However, don't put together someone's potato, put the options on the side and let them assemble it themselves just incase they don't eat pork.

The only item that came out with a bit of heat was the broccoli. The mac noodles was over cooked and just not what that dish should taste like. The Monto Christi that is a FRIED sandwich was cold in the middle. How is that even possible?

The catfish was lightly fried with no crispy crunch at all.
