This establishment did not meet my expectations.
The service provided by the waitress, Kaleigh, was exemplary and commendable. The service provided by the waitress, Kaleigh, was exemplary and commendable. From the moment we were seated, Kaleigh greeted us with a warm smile and a friendly demeanor that instantly made us feel welcome. She was attentive without being intrusive, promptly bringing us menus and offering her recommendations based on popular dishes.
Throughout our meal, Kaleigh consistently checked in on us, ensuring our drinks were filled and asking if we needed anything else. Her knowledge of the menu was impressive; she was able to answer all of our questions in detail, which helped us make informed choices about our meal. Kaleigh demonstrated a strong commitment to customer satisfaction and provided a level of service that was truly commendable, setting a positive tone for our visit.
However, the quality of the food fell short. The macaroni and cheese was excessively salty, the greens lacked freshness, and the shrimp and grits were disappointingly diluted in flavor. Additionally, while I awaited my spaghetti and fish, I was informed that another waitress mistakenly took my order, resulting in an extended wait of an additional ten minutes. When I finally received my meal, the spaghetti did not align with my taste preferences.
Furthermore, I find it perplexing that a 24-hour establishment could run out of food and beverages where several menu items were unavailable. It is also concerning that the dessert refrigerator was inoperative.
I would like to provide a suggestion to the management: when the owner is present, it is beneficial to engage with customers and demonstrate that their opinions are valued, particularly when requested. Merely stating that there are designated staff members for customer interaction does not emanate a professional atmosphere. It would be more advantageous for the owner to be actively involved in the establishment’s operations.
Regarding the staff, it is important to understand that belonging to the 3rd Ward area should not dictate one’s professional appearance. While our waitress displayed professionalism and appropriate attire, the shift manager's presentation did not meet these standards.
I was a bit disappointed that for my late meal, the best they could do was offer me a complimentary drink or a mere 15% off my meal. It felt like a lackluster way to make up for the inconvenience.
Overall, this establishment requires significant improvement in various areas, including management practices and...
Read moreAfter seeing the promos for this place on social media, we were excited about trying it. We arrived at the restaurant, there was limited parking , but we found a spot. Walked in and it was all down hill from there. The dining room was crowded which was a good sign initially. We stood about 10 minutes with no greeting from the lady behind the counter. There was a staff member (bus boy) who was helping pass out water to seated guests. After waiting another 5 minutes I approached him and asked if he would clean off an empty table for us so that we could sit. We waited about 5 minutes and he came to clean the table. We sat down to wait for out server to bring menus. As we waited about more we observed that many of the tables had not ordered, most did not have water. The lady behind the bar was the only server, therefore the many guests that walked in, some seated in the patio were not even greeted. The family that was sitting at the bar got up and walked out, along with many other couples. I was even approached by a guests asking me questions as if I worked there. Just while we were there, we watched about 20 guests walk out, no exaggeration!! By the time that the lady brought menus, we had been waiting almost an hour!! The couple at the table next to us who was there when we arrived said that it took about an hour and forty five minutes for them to be seated, order taken and good to be served and it was brought out right as we started discussing leaving.
We ultimately gave up, and went to another spot down the freeway.
I can only guess that their staff didn’t show up for work! At some point the lady should have called somebody, for assistance, manager, owner, somebody!! This is a really bad look that just exacerbates the stereotypes that BOR face. You have to do better!
At a minimum, if you know you are short staffed, greet the guest when they enter, let them know that you will be with them as soon as you can, but to just say nothing, people are not likely to be understanding! They simply walked out… Service or the lack there of was a total fail!
We did not have an opportunity to try any of the food, so I don’t have any comments on it and I doubt that I will ever go back...
Read moreI’m pretty late leaving this review but here goes…..my man and I patronized this establishment maybe a week ago around 3/4am. When we walked inside the vibe was cool and we sat in the first seats at the bar. I noticed that the counter was pretty filthy. Sticky, stained, etc. Not sure why the bartender doesn’t keep the counter clean. I didn’t even wanna touch it so I sat with my hands in my lap. This was a red flag, but we both had really been wanting to try this place so I didn’t say anything to my man. The bartender took sooo long to take our order that my man had to get up and ask security to get her to acknowledge us. She had a good attitude but she wasn’t very attentive. After she took our order it took exactly 20mins for it to come out which was cool. I got fried lobster bites with waffles and my man got the spaghetti with chicken wings. We paid, got our food, and left. When we got in the car I looked at the food through the clear plastic top just to make sure it looked correct which it did. Once we got home we sat down to eat. I opened my to-go container first, everything looked fine still. Then my man opened his……..IMMEDIATELY I side eyed him because I couldn’t believe the smell that came out as soon as he opened it. He was so pissed, the food smelled as if it was SPOILED. We sniffed the plate and figured the odor was coming from the spaghetti and not the wings. We packed that food up so fast and headed right back to Day&Night. My man took his plate back inside and told the lightskin waitress the issue. She opened the container and her eyes literally got wide from the smell. One of the owners gave us a full refund with no problem which I do commend. But it sucks because we really wanted to support a black owned spot. Now my man doesn’t want to go back which I can’t blame him. Not sure how you serve SPOILED food, but pleaseeeeeee you guys I’m begging y’all to do better. I would like to give Day & Night a 2nd chance in the future but for right now we won’t be patronizing them...
