I haven't eaten the food yet but I will follow up I have purchased their food I just have not eaten it. I'm so pissed because I came in I bought $60 worth of food (lunch) for myself to try their food for the first time I told the man I want to eat at the restaurant and then I'll take it to go whatever I don't finish. I had just paid 5 seconds went by I forgot I wanted to get a drink and I felt really dehydrated I asked the man if he could get me a drink he refused and told me I needed to wait for the four people who were behind me to order all of their food. My body really felt bad and I had to go get some water because I felt ill probably due to dehydration. I come back about 15 to 20 minutes later and he has my food waiting to go as if he wants me to just take the food and leave he doesn't want me in his restaurant I'm not welcome probably because I'm not like him. That's literally the message I got from this restaurant if you're not Indian don't come here You're not welcome to sit down and that's crazy. They had 10 people working there and one man helping everyone well two other people were behind the counter just stacking dishes and doing random tasks. Any one of those people could have helped me and maybe the guy wasn't listening but I communicate very clearly and he communicated clearly as well he is a very intelligent man I know he understood everything I said. Because he repeated it back to me. It's just sad that this restaurant service left such a bad taste in my mouth I really don't even want to eat the food. But because this is an honest review I will follow up with what the food taste like.................. Okay, food was great! Mutton and butter chicken. But I don't think you should tell a customer who just paid $65 for lunch, to wait for their drink while you simultaneously pull 2 drinks from the fridge and hand them to other customers while telling me to wait for no reason. Very unfair to provide a drink to someone and not another at the same time especially since I was not feeling well and needed water or anything to drink. Typically my experience has been that Indian restaurants offer better service than traditional American restaurants, that's why this experience was such a...
Read moreDear All, I have been a regular customer to "Desi District, Houston" over the last 6-8 months now. The food here is super amazing and the people working here are come with Super Professional skills, Extremely Courteous, have Great Human Values. While most of the staff here are Super Great, Deepika comes with Super Professional skills, always takes out time and ensures Customers are comfortable and happy. Even if she is working for long hours, you cannot see her tired but always excited, energetic and super soft hearted human being. Deepika is definitely an ASSET to DESI DISTRICT. Deepika is so professional that when I enter the Restaurant, she knows what food I want and many-a-times; Deepika has nodded her head or even sometimes billed me even before asking her. This is her perfection in her job and many times I feel amazed to her skills, she has so many customers and how can she remember customers choice of food every single time. This reflects her dedication, to her work, profession and to her customers. Proud of you Deepika.
On the other side while most of the team are great, Renu is one of the young kids in Desi District who is very kind; she was super courteous with my Wife when during one of the occasions, my wife was upset and disappointed with one of the orders we made here, Renu was so kind, professional, smooth, bold and patient enough to come back to my wife when she was angry and convince her that she can replace or compliment the dish with another when my Wife herself felt shocked and said that this kid is super amazing.
DEEPIKA AND RENU ARE JEWELS, ASSETS THAT DESI DISTRICT HAS. I feel like family whenever I visit here and definitely need to say that I VISIT OTHER INDIAN RESTAURANTS IN HOUSTON BUT WILL NOT HESTITATE TO SAY "EAST OR WEST DESI DISTRICT IS THE BEST". The Quality of Food, The Specials that Desi District has and The People, NO OTHER INDIAN RESTAURANT CHAIN CAN EVEN THINK OF COMPETING DESI DISTRICT.
WAY TO GO DESI DISTRICT. ...
Read moreDesi district is known for their service and food. Now that there was Beryl hurricane in Houston, I’ve lost all respect for this restaurant. There was no power since last night and people wanted to have something to eat. Everybody found it happy that desi district was open. Guess what, they want to take advantage of the plight. Chicken Dum biryani which is $13.99 is being sold for $16.99. Veg dum biryani which is $11.99 is being sold for $15.99. What is even more cynical about them is that since there was no power, they were accepting orders on a paper. Payments are being collected either through zelle or cash. They were also adding 8.5% tax on these payments. For instance Veg biryani is $15.99+8.5% tax. It does not end there, the quantity was reduced by 20%.
The person on the counter has no knowledge about what is happening and she was supposed to do. She was giving her own numbers and the payment collector is quoting a different price creating chaos. Her rude mindset cannot acknowledge customers will have specific veg-non veg preferences. She couldn’t even write what is being served on the container because she claims everybody is busy and wanted the customers to write it but she had sheer audacity to mix veg and non veg boxes without any indication on them.
Before all this started, we called them up and they put us on a hold for ages. We asked a simple question: Are cards accepted(we knew there is no power and Desi District is open). They came back and said “Yes card payments are accepted”. We travelled 30 mins for food because we believed this person who took the customer call. They were only accepting cash and zelle on site. Fortunately we made our arrangements.
When something like a restaurant takes advantage of a situation like hurricane, they lose all respect. No matter how good the food is, substandard hospitality definitely affects business. These looters will not have my endorsement ever again. May karma give them a...
