I'm always eating breakfast late, but sadly very few places serve it after 11:30 am, none after the noon hour. Looking for a place to eat a late breakfast today, I took a chance by spotting the restaurant's while driving & boy it paid off. I didn't need anything special, but Dichos Taqueria so delivered. First, it was a large location with many guests. It had a warm feel, the guests looked pleased, relaxed and local. I was greeted warmly and asked if I could get a to-go order. I was handed a menu and told that they served breakfast and any items on the menu all day. Ding ding ding! I usually ask about the sz of the breakfast tacos, but didn't ask any questions that might spoil my good fortune and just ordered 2 tacos: a taco w egg, potato, chirizo & beans. The 2nd taco w egg, potato, bacon & beans. It was a reasonable wait & I paid before I received my order. At other restaurants, I get charged per ingredient so much a basic taco becomes expensive, like $7-$8. So, when the guy said $4.85, I smiled under my mask and said that I'm gonna get the world's tinest tacos. It is what it is I thought. I received my food & snapped a couple of pics and went outside to checked my breakfast & was stunned to see two huge tacos wrapped in aluminum foil. I opened one up and was like this is what I wanted, a large breakfast tacos for under $5. I also had red & green sauce. I quickly added both and took a bite to give the food the final test of taste-next to price, the most important test. The ingredients were large square potato chunks, real black beans (that stunned me, normally you get refried bean paste), the eggs weren't overly seasoned, but had onions & the bacon wasn't strips, but crushed bacon that I had trouble finding, because normally its overcooked & salty, this was not. The key thing I noticed was the flour tortilla was cooked crispy allowing it to hold all the ingredients inside the taco as I bit into it. The mix of ingredients & flavors was great. This answered my questions of why the restaurant was full of patrons & more coming in after me. So, let me say I recommend Dichos Taqueria without reservations for large portions, good ingredients, soundly prepared food, pleasant customer service & prices that will have you coming back. I spent the next couple of hours feeling the best I ever had after a late breakfast. I didn't even think about touching the 2nd taco. It went in my fridge for breakfast the next day. A definite & unexpected pleasant win, because I found my breakfast spot on a lark. Yeah me, im...
Read moreFound this place via word of mouth. Had to try it but won't after giving it two chances. Both experiences were drive-thru since I am not local to the area and were passing by. Here's our experience and rated from 1-5, 1 being lowest.
Food Value: 2 On first visit, I paid $25+ on a combination plate which contained chicken, beef, some shrimp, rice and beans. Portions did not justify the price(grandma would be ashamed of such a small plate). Shrimp was absolutely not fresh. Asked if I wanted corn of flour tortillas, requested corn. Found no tortillas when arrived at home.
Second visit (because I believe in second chances)was craving some menudo, none unfortunately so settled for pozole. Portions again did not reflect price. $9+ for a small cupful of slop substance, hardly a bowlful. Hominy was in it, but couldn't tell since it melted in mouth like it didn't exist. Tasted bad, but finally got some tortillas and they were the best part.
Appearances: 4 Parking lot is smallish while the drive-thru swings behind the building and side. Menu is extensive and daunting. Employees are nice...restaurant wasn't busy though (on both visits) which is a bad sign for any restaurant.
There are other places out there that are less expensive and better value. Go to them, stay away from here. The parking lot is empty for a reason. Took me $35+ to...
Read moreI was in the area and wanted to grab some lunch. There were many options for mexican food and antojitos in the area but I chose this place at random. I'm so glad I did. From the moment i arrived everyone was very friendly and attentive. There were so many things on the menu that i wanted to try. I usually get a torta or enchiladas de mole but not today. I ordered 1 taco de al pastor, 1 taco de barbacoa and a gordita de carne asada. I recommend paying the extra .25 cents for house made tortillas if you are ordering tacos. The taco al pastor was delicious and not greasy. The barbacoa taco was just as good. I really liked that the barbacoa tacos wasn't leaking grease when I picked it up. It happens too often and I hate it. It wasnt dry either. It was moist and flavorful. Lastly the gordita was just what I wanted .not to be confused with a sope. It had the basics. Beans , melted cheese and meat. Everything was simple but so damn good. I love a place that can offer basic mexican comfort food but also deliver with flavor and freshness. This place is inexpensive, making it a great place to pick up some classics without breaking your wallet. I wish I lived in the area so I can be a regular. I will have to find a reason to go back. Fyi I took a burrito to go...
