I’m not here to bash the food as it was ok, but what deserves the 1-star review is the blatant disregard the owner/employee had towards me and my baby. I came in and placed an order and while chatting with an elderly lady, a “auntie”, she leaned down and kissed my 9 month old baby who was facing forward in a baby carrier. I asked her not to do that and she replied with that she was giving the baby “good luck”. When my food was ready I went to grab it and to my surprise she leaned in a kissed my baby again!!!!! Same excuse when I asked her not to do that “I’m giving the baby good luck”. Lo and behold the next day my baby ended up having a fever that ended up with 2 Dr visits and 4 days of pumping them full of ibuprofen and Tylenol to finally break their fever. Maybe it was coincidence but this interaction in every sense was inappropriate and really off putting that their employee would think it was ok to blatantly ignore my wishes as a parent and paying customer.
With the very recent outbreak of measles in TX, RSV and Flu going around, it’s not just something I’m overreacting about as the safety of my child is the utmost priority and I would’ve never thought it would be up for debate when I came into this establishment. Just something to think about and be weary of if you decide...
Read moreLocated in the Universal Plaza. Watch out for Asian drivers and pedestrians. It's honestly the worst in this plaza. This plaza has lots of parking but sometimes it can get really crowded. People reversing without looking and parking however and wherever they want.
Anyways, I always come here for their banh mi. They have all kinds of banh mi but my favorite is the special. They toast the bread before they make it so it's hot. It's relatively cheap ranging from $3-4.
Seriously, this place has all kinds of dessert from che to sticky rice. The green and red sticky rice are my absolute favorite. I don't have much of a sweet tooth but the sticky rice has a hint of sweetness so I can usually eat the entire portion. They also have other dried snacks and assorted drinks in the fridge.
One down side is that it's cash only! Bummer because I never have cash but when I do, I stop by here. Majority of the workers are Vietnamese who may not speak English too well but shouldn't be a problem if you don't speak Viet. You can just point out what you want. Everyone...
Read morehonestly, their food's pretty good and their sweets/desserts are superb. i will focus on the sweets/desserts though, as i don't really have much to say for the food. the reason i differentiated the two is because their desserts are amazing. their chè is amazing, and they give you what you want right in front of you. the coconut milk they use for their products is awesome. you can really taste it in their stuff and really adds to the flavors of the desserts. two of my favorite desserts has this: one is like this red bean (maybe) in a sticky coconut milk liquid and the other is called bánh bò / cow cake / steamed rice cake. a last item i absolutely love that they have is chuối chiên / fried banana. it's sweet, crunchy, and has a fruity flavor. in conclusion, as i realize this is so long lol, this place is one of my favorite places to visit for vietnamese desserts/sweets and other foods.
