The pizza was great!âwe chose our own toppings (pepperoni, sausage, and extra cheese) and the crust was hand made with a good amount of desirable char from the beautiful, open brick oven. The Cheesy Garlic Bites looked amazing in the picture, but in person they looked a little differentâI think I was expecting bread rolls (perhaps made from their pizza dough) featuring cheese and bits of garlic either baked inside or sprinkled on top. I never expected baked cheese and garlic inside a cup of⊠whatever the outside is made of⊠maybe wonton wrappers? Anyway the cheesy garlic bites were a bit crunchy and chewy and we didnât care for them. When the food arrived, the food runner didnât bring any paper plates for us and we had to go looking for our own which seemed discourteous but didnât affect the food experience because the pizza was still too hot to eat. The pizza came out in about 10-15 minutes with the restaurant seeming half full, but the cheesy garlic rolls didnât arrive until the pizza was halfway eaten. A final note about the service: when I asked the staff about the owners and the artist who drew the fabulous mural on the wall, they didnât seem to know or maybe were afraid to share. I clarified in Spanish what I was asking to be sure there was no confusion, but the woman standing behind her (who spoke English natively) didnât seem to know either and I assume the high school age staff might not know either. To avoid any further awkwardness, I thanked them and went back to my seat. As it turns out, Ryan and Josie Granger are the owners of HTX Restaurant Group and own the two restaurants on either side of Fiaâs Pizzeria (as well as Park Grill and Park Grill Express). If youâre a local, check out the hand drawn map of Houston on the wall when you visitâI just think itâs the...
Read moreWent on 7.12.2022 with a family of 6 after a long day at the museum. Pizza was fine, no sweet tea and they didn't seem interested in making any, place seemed clean and good selection of things. Had what happed next not happened I would have given 3 stars. Only our group, a group of 3, and a single person were inside and a couple was outside around 7 pm. Around 8 we were loading up to leave when an elderly woman entered and asked if someone would please buy her a spaghetti plate. I offered and as I was at the register paying an employee approached me to tell me "it's not our policy to let people like her in and she will need to wait outside. I responded with, "What kind? The humankind?" She said, "her kind, because if you let them in once then she will think she can come in any time she wants" Again I responded with "who? Humankind of people?? I hope you are never homeless and have to beg for food." YA"LL THIS WAS SOMEONES GRANDMA, nana, abuela!!! I am not ignoring the needs of an elderly person. She didn't even look bad. She didn't smell, she wasn't dirty, she had on shoes, she wasn't carrying a bunch of stuff, she was just POOR! I bought the food and bottled water and dropped off the receipt and water to her and told her to enjoy her spaghetti and left. ALL I KNOW is that the day we stop showing someone human decency and respect is the day humanity fails. We have to look out for our neighbors and help if we can. If you don't want to buy dinner for someone you don't have to no big deal hopefully someone who can will. All I know is that if this establishment is going to discriminate against "her kind" then who else do they discriminate against? We won't be returning to support this business again. I just wish in hindsight I had stayed to make sure she...
Read moreIf you can deal with the parking situation, Fia's Pizzeria has fantastic food! They have a great menu with a lot to choose from. My friend ordered the Montrose Spicy Pickle pizza and I ordered a cheese pizza with pineapple. We both really loved what we ordered. The crust was perfect and the ingredients were delicious. I also have to give them a shout out for their delicious fountain Dr Pepper!!! It was right up there with the very best that I have ever tasted out of a fountain! We ate inside, but there's also a small patio area with tables in front of the restaurant if you prefer to eat outside. They no longer take phone orders, but you are able to order online. We had to park in the garage that's shared by the other businesses in the building. It's a very tight parking garage with tight spaces. It cost $7 to park for a little under an hour. They are very close, however, to the McGovern Centennial Gardens, Miller Outdoor Theater, and Hermann Park, so you could walk right over and skip the garage altogether. The parking was a bit of a challenge, but the food⊠the food AND THE DR. PEPPER...
