People are sleeping on this hidden cafe! Their fresh items are worth every dollar and honestly- more people NEED to know about the deliciousness of the fresh buffalo chicken wrap and fries special! Ask about it trust me.
The cafe of course has standard children's quick meal options- pizza, hot dogs, chicken tenders, grilled cheese, fries, etc. It's definitely reliable but that's not where they shine.
The weekday specials are the best kept secret. It's the freshness for me. It's the flavorsss for me. The chicken wrap special is offered in more than one sauce flavor but I only get the buffalo sauce cause one bite and I was sold. It's chopped chicken tenders tossed in your chosen sauce with lettuce and tomatoes, and pressed on the grill. The fries are served hot and seasoned and I love a well seasoned fry. And given the nature of the cafe, it is always served fresh off the grill/fryer.
The cafe also offers fresh salads and veggie cups, as well as chicken salad and tuna salad. The tuna salad does slap- ask for extra crackers! I'm not too surprised that some people don't find the frozen kids pizza or nachos super exciting. But I have been a few times too many to count at this point and have appreciated the consistency of how good the fresh in-house made foods are. It was on one of these many visits that I learned about the daily specials.
The daily specials are only offered on their less busy days, in my experience it is on Mon-Thurs if you're lucky. I don't know them all but one of the other specials is a meat and cheese quesadilla (I get chicken) which also is stupid good.
This museum cafe has a high standard of fresh ingredients and their in-house foods are worth returning to. Being able to come to a museum, get a good meal, and head out before traffic starts is the way to live. This is definitely one of Houston's best kept secrets only for parents...
Read moreEfficient and clean quick service restaurant inside the Children’s Museum. Pricing is fair and not outrageous when compared to similar food options in other museums. A cheeseburger is $8, chicken tenders are $6 for 3 or $12 for 7, pizza is $4.50 to $5. The portions aren’t huge, but that’s expected for feeding kids. Since there is a wait for the hot food to cook, I recommend grabbing a ready to eat item as part of your lunch if you are hungry or kids need to eat something...
Read morePlease stop using such strong smelling cleaning spray on tables. As I’m eating at one table, the employee started clean the table next to me. Because she used that strong smelling purple spray, all I can taste is that cleaning solution. It’s awful! Just dilute it with water or something so it’s not so strong. Otherwise, the cheeseburger is delicious! Thanks for the...
