We came to Granger's on a Monday evening to celebrate another year of life and I must say, it exceeded our expectations. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their dishes. It's indeed always a GREAT experience when the reviews lives up to the hype! Upon entry we were warmly greeted and each handed a glass of champagne. Our waiter made sure that we had a grand experience via his exceptional customer service and excellent recommendations. He was also very attentive and knowledgeable of all that Granger's had to offer us. We started out with the crab hush puppies, which, were simply okay. I kind of expected a little more pizazz in taste from the hush puppies, however, they were more so subtle. For my main dish, I tried something different than what I would normally get. Per our waiter's recommendation, I ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken. As he promised, I was not disappointed! My chicken was fried perfectly and seasoned well. Additionally, the veggie mix was very enjoyable. I ate every single thing on my plate! I also had the pleasure of trying the steak fritters that was cooked at medium, providing a divine, succulent experience for my taste buds. I would absolutely get this for my main dish on another visit. I also sampled the brussel sprouts which I thoroughly enjoyed. I then tried the shrimp scampi, which was good, however, I tend to like my pasta with a thicker/creamer sauce. For dessert, we all opted to get their delicious bread pudding, which is massive in size. This is definitely shareable, however, if you are a big fan of bread pudding, you may not want to share this one. Overall, we were elated with our experience and dinner selection. As it pertains to parking, there is street parking available along with a parking garage in close proximity to Granger's. I will most definitely be back... A couple of times lol to experience what appears to be a GREAT HH, that only happens at the bar and try the steak fritters as my main dish.

Grangers has been on our list for a couple months as we pass it on the way to the museum. We had a friend in town staying downtown and took the opportunity to dine in after the rodeo a couple of weeks ago. I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to write a review - because our meal was amazing!! We walked in with no reservation about 8p on a Saturday and were seated quickly. As we browsed the menu, we all sort of looked up at the same time and knew we had to order the Baller Board. It’s a bit pricey, but reasonable considering the amount of food and that it fed the 3 of us and we had leftovers. The board is served with a filet, a ribeye, NY strip steak frites with chimichurri, whipped potatoes, asparagus, brussel sprouts, oscar sauce, merlot demi glaze, steakhouse mushrooms and grilled close of garlic. So if you’re counting, that’s 3 cuts of steak and an assortment of sides! The entire spread is served on a giant wooden charcuterie board that fit the table diagonally corner to corner. Steaks were all cooked to medium rare as ordered. Brussel sprouts had a sauce that was a bit sweet, but altogether delicious. The oscar sauce had large pieces of crab and paired well with the filet, but was also tasty on its own! We had the capirotada for dessert with ice cream. We were all full but the meal ad been so good, we knew we couldn’t leave without dessert. This was some of the best bread pudding we’ve ever had. Highly recommend and we can’t wait to go back! They also do brunch!! Oh, don’t know how I forgot, they also serve a free glass of champagne on arrival!!

A New Houston Gem That Nails the Culinary Trifecta: Food, Vibes, & Hospitality 🌟 Move over, staples—there’s a fresh star in town, and it’s already shining bright. From the team behind beloved local icons Fias and Bodegas comes a restaurant that feels like a love letter to Houston’s dining scene. Let’s start with the essentials: The food is phenomenal. Every dish balances creativity and comfort, delivering bold flavors that linger long after the last bite. Pair that with service so warm and attentive, you’ll feel like a regular on your first visit. But wait—the cocktails are the sleeper hit here. Think inventive, expertly balanced sips that elevate the meal without overshadowing it (no small feat!). And oh, the ambiance… The decor is a masterclass in moody elegance, blending texture, lighting, and artistry to create a space that’s as Instagram-worthy as it is inviting. With its powerhouse ownership group and proximity to the Museum/Medical District, this spot is poised to become a Houston essential. Already planning my next visit—because when a place nails every detail, loyalty is non-negotiable. Run, don’t walk. 🏃♀️💨

I chose Granger’s to celebrate my anniversary with my wife on June 18, 2025, hoping to try a new spot in town and create a memorable evening. We had a 7:30pm reservation, and I had left a note asking if they could do something simple—maybe a message on a dessert or basic decorations—to acknowledge the occasion. I even offered to pay if needed and asked for a call to discuss options. Unfortunately, there was no response and nothing prepared when we arrived. It was disheartening, especially since the restaurant wasn’t busy. Most of the tables were empty.

Adding to the disappointment, even though they knew it was our anniversary, we were seated at a table right next to the kitchen entry, tucked in a dim corner. For a nearly empty dining room, this felt careless. First impressions matter—especially for new customers. We requested to be moved to a brighter area with the turquoise seating, which they accommodated, but the initial gesture left a sour note.

Now, to be fair—the food was good. It lived up to the expectations for a restaurant in the $50–$100 per person range. But that’s the baseline; for that price point, excellent food is expected. What wasn’t expected was finding a produce sticker on a sliced apple in my wife's $26 chopped chicken salad. We didn’t make a scene—she was hungry after waiting nearly an hour for our entrées. She simply placed the slice aside and waited for the server to notice and respond.

He didn’t. No apology, no acknowledgment, no effort to alert the kitchen or manager.

When I politely brought it up at the end of the meal, the waiter finally informed the manager. But even then, the manager never came to speak with us or offer a sincere apology. Instead, we received a 25% discount on just the salad. Frankly, it felt dismissive.

This experience was underwhelming, and I won’t be recommending Granger’s. While the food has potential, a truly great restaurant delivers more than flavor—it cares about service, details, and how it makes guests feel. On a night that should’ve felt special, it felt like we were just another table to get through. Sadly, we left feeling let down. Next time, I’ll be going to...

Man where to begin! I went to this place with my wife after the museum. Randomly seen it on my google maps. I picked it because it was walking distance but nothing could have prepared me for the experience!

The ambience as you walk through the doors, the decor, friendliness and the cleanliness are all very apparent. We were sat and got our drinks, after a chat with our waiter he mentioned that the restaurant was fairly new but that we would definitely be back after we tried the food. We started with some crab hush puppies and wings and that on itself set the bar high for the food. The flavors were explosive and gave a good umami taste! The hush puppies and wings were phenomenal! I then ordered the meatloaf (sounds basic but not here) the flavor as described by the waiter (not sweet like a typical meatloaf, Savory instead) and that it was. The flavors and presentation were worthy of a royal meal. My wife got the Salmon Pasta and man let me tell you something! Those flavors disturbed my palette and awaken my savory glands. A flavor like no other for sure. The choice of sauce is the absolute-best for this dish. It started as her dish and ended as my dish.

Then to top it off we ordered the bread pudding (capirotada) Trust me when i say i have been to many many of the top restaurants in houston and i always try the bread pudding as it is my favorite desert but 90% of the time it disappoints me because of the lack of flavors or because of how dry and weak it is. They serve it with a white bourbon sauce which i would say they do put a bunch around the plate, you really dont need much at all. But the Bread pudding was delicious and exceptional as well. It is very hard to find a restaurant that does the menu right from appetizers to on-tray to deserts but this place is definitely a Gem!

The waiter was definitely right, we definitely will be back. Best meal i have had in a while at a good restaurant and i got the Meatloaf, i would have never thought to have said that with meatloaf.

Give this place a try and i promise you will NOT be disappointed at all! I wish i had taken pictures but i forgot about everything when my food...

Before I give this review I'd like to preface it with this - I have eaten at many AMAZING restaurants so my bar is high. Now, the food & service were a solid 3... average for this type of restaurant. It wasn't a memorable menu unfortunately. We were seated at a high table between the bar and kitchen and it was noisy, lots of traffic, and considering the close proximity to both bar & kitchen, you'd think service would be efficient but it was also lacking. The table: I am a short woman. This table came to my neck when standing next to it, seated in the booth side of the table, my feet had nothing to rest on (just dangled) and any glass with a stem blocked the view of the other guests at my table. So here's something that was...odd - I ordered a cocktail that came in a stemmed glass, when I realized how it was impossible to see my friends, I asked if they could pour it into something without a stem (and I explained my request so I didn't seem like a weirdo taking my beautiful cocktail - and it was beautiful - and putting it into something not beautiful). They said sure took it away, and brought it back to me in a short whisky glass - the size difference of the glass was about 6oz so I lost that part of the cocktail leaving me with the soda it was topped with and none of the base that didn't fit into the glass. Bummer. But it gets better...I order another one, so I can have the whole cocktail this time and the server brings me a completely different drink and said this one is much better. LOL It wasn't. So needless to say I paid for two overpriced cocktails that I didn't drink - the first of which was outstanding and I was really disappointed in how that went down and the second I didn't order but was decided for me by the server. Overall not unpleasant, the restaurant is trendy and the food was good but nothing memorable the bar has magic if you get it the way it comes and if you're short, insist on the low tables. We can check Granger's off the list, not enough interest after the first visit to...
