Very disappointed in this first experience with my daughter. The lady (Lulu) opened the store late while we were all sweltering in the July sun waiting for her to open the cafe/studio. Our class was supposed to start at 11am, and she didn't open until close to 11:10am. She said she was setting up. Then when she opened the door there was no greeting whatsoever, no apology- 😕 she didn't instruct us where to go (there's two sections to the place). She started walking towards the back so I asked if we were to follow her, and she said yes. Um, ok. After we sit down she starts passing out paper to draw on, and pencils to sketch with, and also nubs or crumbles of drawing erasers. Nice. 😐 As it started to fill up, she came over to our table to ask if she could take one of our reference materials for use at another table. Ok, I guess I'll share with someone else... I'm only paying for this class. Then she comes later and proceeds to take away another one of our reference materials. Wow. So, needless to say, our first experience here was not amazing by any means. My daughter liked the food. I ended up paying over $75 for things around the CafĂ©, but I was disappointed in the level of professionalism and friendliness of the host/owner. The pencil that I provided was one that I happened to have since I had brought my backpack in.

This cafe is an introvert’s dream. It is very cozy, cute, and quiet. The employees are friendly but not pushy or bothersome. It is hard to describe this place with one word because it is part cafe, part art studio, and part small business gift shop. There are art supplies, paintings, prints, stickers, jewelry, craft kits, soaps, shirts, totes, and more for sale! Frogs are my favorite animal so I was very happy to get a Mushroom Frog Macaron (Vanilla flavor) and this Frog Wizard sticker. My partner and I had an impromptu date at one of the cafe tables where we ordered a Cookie Picnic (basket of assorted cookies!), drinks, and a craft to do together! We decided on painting wooden magnets. The order came with supplies to use while at the store and our choice of 4 wooden magnets. We were able to complete them at the cafe with our snacks and then took them home to our fridge! I really recommend this place. Following them on Instagram is a good idea because they post their specials and photos of products. They have reusable cups for water which I thought was great for sustainability rather than disposable plastic water cups. Also, for those concerned about privacy and safety, they have single-stall restrooms (as opposed to gendered multi-stall restrooms).

This place is any cutesy selfie-loving, Instagram-obsessed, kawaii Asian girl's dream come true. There were so many of the aforementioned clientele in the cafe when I visited that I lost count of the number of Asian girl + Instagarm bf/husband couples there were, taking their 102nd selfie. Wait, let me fix my hair again. Angle the camera higher up. Okay, one more. Wait no, k, last one. And all the poor boyfriends with the same forced frozen smiles plastered on, wondering how much longer before they could dig into their poor melting ice cream and no-longer-hot HK egg waffles. ;) Haha, I'm exaggerating. But only a little bit. Hey, been there, done that. But it was kinda funny people watching while waiting for my order.

I got an iced latte to bring to a friend at her work but it came out more along the lines of a frappe? Like blended. Oh well, I hope it was still good. The egg waffle thing was good, although by the time I got to my friend's work just 5 min later (with my car AC blasting), it was on the melty side and the waffle was cold. But it was still good. The waffle part at least. The ice cream was just really basic vanilla ice cream. I wish they would have made the whole egg waffle thing a little later though... I told them my order was "to go" and they made the waffle first, and then took another 5 minutes to make the latte. Would have been nice if they flipped the order, but oh well, no big deal.

Anyway, going back to the cuteness. Everything about this place is adorable. All the decor, from the gold-brushed geometric ceiling lights to the colorful wall murals to the cute little ceramic honeybee salt shakers on the tables. They have cat coloring books and cat art. Crayons for you to use to fill out your HK egg waffle order sheet and select your toppings. Art classes! They even have a back seating area, which I didn't check out last time. Not sure if it was for a private event or classes or just open seating. This could be a cute study spot, especially given its proximity to Rice. Parking is a little limited, but I didn't have any trouble. The outside is unassuming and the location is kind of random (I'd expect this in Chinatown, next to Jungle Cafe or something), but it is super adorable and I will probably be back! P.S. If you're studying and need grub, they no longer offer any hot foods (they only had 3 options before anyway). But Halal Guys is just down the street so you can always pop over there...

I have frequented honey art cafe for the occasional beverage & macaron here and there but what cemented for me that I will not be back for anything other than macaroons was my most recent visit. . This place has hands down the BEST macarons in the city. Wonderful, fresh, and cute AND they actually taste like what they say they are ( unlike some other macaron places ) I’ve gone multiple times for just these but not for the art sit down stuff. My most recent visit I purchased the watercolor set + afternoon tea. The food that I received was what I think was meant to be creme brĂ»lĂ©e, a chocolate chip cookie, a vanilla macaron & a chocolate macaron. The creme brĂ»lĂ©e was mainly just vanilla pudding ( not really enough of a sugar top to it to add any of the usual creme brĂ»lĂ©e flavor ). I think kids would like it though. The chocolate chip cookie was most definitely frozen and tasted of freezer :( What i might recommend as someone that works at a bakery is to freeze your cookie dough & make a couple daily to sell versus keeping cookies in freezer. higher quality while keeping costs low & the cookies keep fresh for about 2 days before you should toss. macarons as always were good. My peach tea was also decent but it is just bagged tea. So, the watercolor- okay paper, dirt cheap watercolors, and chipped large brushes. The other problem was the lack of supplementary materials ( artist tape is usually a must for WC ) I understand communal art supplies are going to have some issues keeping them in good condition but it was kind of a letdown because as far as creating art with the supplies the brushes were way too big for the tiny pieces of paper. I wouldn’t even call this good for beginners because i think beginners would easily become frustrated with the size dichotomy of the materials and the flaking brushes. It felt as though my money is better spent at a different local cafe price wise. I could easily spend 15$ on a freshly made snack & a loose leaf tea elsewhere and purchase a winsor & newton student quality set from the nearby art stores. service wise I went to talk to the girl working about ordering some food & was told to just use the QR code which is good for introverts I think but I wouldn’t expect to befriend any staff. I absolutely do not mean to badmouth this place in any way because i think the owners are lovely it is just hard to justify spending the money when so many other friendly & cost efficient...
