It's super cheap. It's my first time here. I paid for the weekly at $225.00 Total. That comes to $32 dollars a day. Can't beat it. The room is nicer than I would have imagined. It has a large comfortable bed, bright lights, newly renovated wood flooring and you can open and enter through the patio (each room has a patio door that opens). So you can get to your car without having to walk the hallways. The A/C is controlled by the Front Desk. Evidently the hotel is on a boiler system. so you can't adjust the temperature in the room. Yesterday when I arrived it was in the middle of the day and it was ice cold. I loved it. Now it's warm. I'm hoping they turn the temp up soon. Whoever said the place was ghetto yes. It's very ghetto. There were people sitting in the patio doors smoking weed. Trash overflowed. Flies everywhere. The place looks a mess on the outside. But at least the room is nice for what you pay.
There is no ice machine. Evidently the hotel puts ice in little bags and you have to get a bag. Not sure if there is a charge for this. There are no bedbugs but there are roaches. Especially in the restroom. I turned on the restroom lights and roaches went everywhere. They are so bad that now I keep the lights on all day and night in the restroom. Now the roaches don't wait for the lights to be off. They come out with the lights on. There are also many roaches in the actual room. Crawling on the head board and up the walls and across the floor. I've been killing them and sometimes when they are in a hard to reach location I just watch them. Grossed out.
I have never understood why public buildings even have roaches. There are so many pest control solutions to kill them. I use to stay in a rooming house and there were always transient people in and out. It was an older home. I was amazed the place didn't have one single roach. Anywhere. I asked the landlord how was this possible. He said he knew how to mix (I think he said Borax Powder and Ant Powder) to the right proportions to kill the roaches. The roaches found the stuff irresistible and they would gravitate to it and die. He had become so good at mixing the chemicals none of his properties had roaches at all.
Roaches are filthy. Yucky. Nasty. I can't stand them. So Winston Inn PLEASE stop the roach...
Read moreYou kind of have to not have the usual expectations. The single day rooms seem to be a lil more nice than weekly .
The staff has been very friendly and I have seen security at all hours walking the place. The halls do smell like smoke, the rooms look dirty. Furniture could use some love and replacing. Seen very few roaches, low single digits over the period of 8 days, 2 separate stays. Walls Look very dirty. No fridge or microwave in my room this last week but was told ahead of time and the woman made effort to find me the best room available. No bed bugs. I return and sheets are clean and the room smells clean. Hot water and clean shower. There are people who live here. The most anyone has bothered me here is someone mistaking my door for anothers and some asking to bum smokes, but like smokers karma, nbd. People I have spoken to have been friendly. Some families live here, I imagine some not families but mostly seems like people keep to themselves and aren't out to bother anyone. It Is a rough area but none of it seem as bad to me as some of these reviews make it out to be. It could be better taken care of but you are getting a room for a Night for 50 bucks or a week for 250. You can not stay inside 610 for those prices and expect a la Quinta or hilton. OI I'm wrong and ya know the place you can hook me up with an address. You are getting what ya pay for. If the place were udated and brougt up to most peoples expectations the price would go up . And then where do people stay who can only afford these rates. Its a good loction as far as getting round the city quickly for the cost and being able to just crash. Go to an expensive hotel downtown and go out. Go more than a few blocks and you will still come across a variety of humans including homeless and panhandlers ya find in this nook. Its true of every area of Houston I have lived. There are good and bad people all over. If you stay here lower your expectations and if you can't go pay double the price or more elsewhere. Just...
Read moreMe & my family stayed here recommended because the pricing was in our range we stayed there a month to be exact. The first problem you notice is the roaches EVERYWHERE ! They need extermination BAD! not just 1-2 like 7-8 everywhere you look the second problem is because I was there for about a month I left valuables in my room. I noticed money was starting to go missing in particular I left $10 on my bed and once I came back my linen had been changed and of course my money wasn’t left on the dresser so I assume housekeeping took it upon themselves to put it in their pockets. The last day I was there unknowingly due to it being the final straw because I would have to go to the office to get replacement linen when they chose to strip the bed and not make it in the same lengths of time I paid for my next days room which is usually 52 dollars I gave them 60 (the lady Gloria says they didn’t have change so come back later that day and get the change from her) I came back the next morning to receive my change & Gloria is not on duty another women is she claims she has no knowledge as to what I’m talking about she reached out to another employee to get in contact with Gloria but to no avail does Gloria answered. They scheme and steal your money every chance they get if I could rate them 0 stars I would yeah that may not be a lot of funds for some people but when you see someone living in a room for that amount of time you don’t abuse those who are trying to make the best out of...
