On arrival I was not impressed by this little hidden away restaurant which I never would have noticed from Airline Blvd just down the street from Bolillos Bakery. This place is actually on the side by Service St. towards the back left hand side of bldg. There is little parking along the restaurant its self & when we got there around 10:00 am for breakfast there was still a couple of homeless people laying out in front just beyond the front entrance. As we entered we were greeted but we were not assisted by staff in arranging our tables for proper service. Waitresses were friendly, our orders were taken after 15 minutes as staff was busy. Meals were ready in another 15 minutes & breakfast plates were good but I've experienced authentic Mexican food & I would describe this as a more refined Tex Mex style of cuisine. Waitress with coffee pot was attentive & friendly although coffee was watered down. I only had one minor problem concerning meal that was addressed with waitress but she basically ignored my concern! Overall my expectations were higher for this restaurant as it seems to be a local neighborhood favorite. This restaurant has a regular clientele & good word of mouth recommendations as I gathered from my friends here but I found the food to be over rated & the service was fair. I would mention this restaurant to friends but I would hope there are better restaurants with more authentic food in this mostly Hispanic community in...
Read more*La Rosa Blanca, thanks for the reply... but, I know what I saw. Talk to your employee, blond hair, crazy eyeliner. I know what I saw!! She placed his used drink BACK in the jar. It was disgusting. YOU may not do it, but SHE did.
I truly wanted to like this place because of the hype it got on Instagram... but it was not good at all.
I ordered the chilaquiles and they were bland. Basically the salsa you get from the chips and salsa, that's the same salsa in the meal. The pork chop I got was way overcooked and very tough to eat. The coffee was good and the chorizo with egg taco my daughter got was pretty good too and that was it!
The moment my heart dropped was when I saw a customer get up from his table to leave and the waiter went to clean the table and gave the customers cup of agua fresca back to the girl at the front (she had a very distinctive eyeliner design on) and SHE POURED IT BACK IN THE JAR WHERE THEY SERVE IT TO OTHER CUSTOMERS!! I immediately got the check and left!! Never going back for sure!
I debated leaving this review, but I absolutely had to.
You get bland, hard to eat food and recycled aguas frescas. Use your own judgement when visiting this place.
I do not...
Read moreMy family stumbled upon this place when our normal breakfast place was closed and my Dad and I wanted menudo. Ever since we visit weekly of not biweekly, they are consistently amazing and the service is always on point. My favorites includes the coffees, the Cajeta and Horchata lates are both very good and not crazy sweet. Plus they use fresh ground coffee beans that give you the extra kick. I know because I asked what kind of coffee they used after I realized they were better than my normal Starbucks. Their chorizo tacos are sooooo good and the menudo is the best I’ve had in the city and it’s crazy greasy. The servers are always really sweet and I’ve never waited long on my food. I’ve placed multiple phone orders and been there 10 minutes later and I’ve never waited. Our family loves h the is place and it’s definitely worth a...
