2020:Before & after CV19 they keep making mistakes with food orders & we were glad to go our & have a meal again, but again disappointed. It’s very sad that a place is doing things right and then they changed what they serve, amounts & quality. Sorry, but that’s not right. They don’t only lost 2 faithful customers, but also I have to change my reviews and adding pictures to it. As client, I’m happy when the food is prep right & we leave full &happy. But when you have to ask to make things better more than 2 times in a row, sorry, time to stop going. They changed the sizes of the steaks, they burned them & beef tastes horrible when is overcook and burned. It’s worse, when the eggs are wrong as you ordered them & hash browns burned too! We are not looking for money back or free dishes, we want our food right from the beginning like before. It’s a pain to wait to get things right, but unfortunately they made them wrong again. And it’s impossible to make a steak medium rare, if they serve a steak that is extremely thin. The pies gladly are still outstanding, but, sorry, if they don’t go back to good quality food, we won’t be there for dinning again! 2018:My husband and I love this place. The food is good for Sunday Brunch, prices are very good and fair, and my husband love their pies 🥧 actually we try peach 🍑 with vanilla ice cream and it was 😋😋😋completely delicious! He always have dessert 🍨 before the meal 🤦🏻♀️But it was very good. We also like our waitress Nereida “Neri” she really took care of us the last couple of times and she’s always paying attention to make our orders perfect. Love her! Then this is the place to be on Sunday for ppl watching Seriously... You Can See ALL kind of stuffs and I’m still getting in shock or surprise when I see some characters. It’s like going to a 🎪 Love this place for all good food, good prices, great service and the show...
Read moreHouse of Pies is a Houston staple for pies and comforting American food. We got the chicken fried chicken, Patty Melt Deluxe, strawberry malt, and Bayou Goo pie.
The chicken fried chicken was very well seasoned and was crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The white gravy gives it an elevated flavor and is very nicely seasoned as well! The fries were crispy and golden brown, but they could have used a tiny bit more salt! This entree comes with bread, and I decided to get biscuits. They weren’t anything special, soft but a little dry. Overall this dish was delicious and we would definitely get it again!
The Patty Melt Deluxe was made up of grilled herb bread slices with a thin patty, caramelized onions, tomato, melted American cheese, and their special sauce. It was served nice and hot. The bread had great savory flavor from the herb butter which was honestly my favorite part. The patty was a little dry, and the onions were a bit overwhelming over the rest of the dish. The sandwhich was a little soggy, probably from the house sauce and juices from the patty, which we didn't prefer. For the side, we ordered the cottage fries - these were phenomenal! Incredibly crunchy and tasty little golden medallions served hot.
The strawberry malt shake and slice of Bayou Goo pie were the clear highlights of the meal. We would stop by here just to order these! The malt was incredibly creamy with that classic savory malty mouthfeel, and the strawberry flavor tasted fresh and bright. We could tell that they used real strawberries, and some of the pulp was in the glass too. The maraschino cherry was splendid as well. As for the Bayou Goo pie, we were literally at a loss for words to describe how good it tastes. Like the sign at the front attests, it truly tasted like a slice of heaven on earth. It was perfect!...
