SALON REVIEW
My previous review was five stars, but after my last experience, I needed to update it.
I wanted a double process with Steve. After calling, it became apparent that the openings were scattered. I ended up booking online for an appointment weeks in advance in order to get the right time with Steve. Note that I could have gone in for an appointment later that day, with a different stylist (my roots were bad), but only wanted an appointment with Steve, so I decided to wait weeks for my appointment.
I showed up to my appointment, greet Steve and say that I'm here for a double process. He gives me a confused look and says that I don't have an appointment with him. I'm embarrassed and immediately go to my phone to check on the appointment info. While I'm pulling up the confirmation email, I hear him say, "Oh! You're just early, I'll call your stylist." Again, I was confused because I had waited weeks for an appointment with him.
At this point, the other stylist has come over and is confused that I'm not there for a keratin treatment. I'm able to show her the email with my appointment info. I see her mentally panic (because both she and Steve have other appointments and mine is MIA) and she leaves for a few minutes only to come back and tell me that she is going to fix it and make sure I still get my appointment. I thought she was going to help Steve and prep my hair while he attended to a haircut.
Nope, she didn't even inform me that I would be with her or ask me if it was okay (or inform me that I would be charged double with her)! Instead, Morgan is trying to rush through, yanking my hair trying to finish the first part before her appointment gets there. My head is literally being jerked from side to side. At that point, I would have walked out had she not been applying bleach between yanks so there was no turning back.
30 mins later, it turns out they had (accidentally) mixed up a cancellation and canceled my appointment for a double process instead of a keratin treatment. The other appointment wasn't even with Steve or at the same time! Morgan comes over to me LAUGHING at the mix up! No apology. She then begins negging (subtle insults). "Your hair is so pretty...too bad there is so much breakage." And, because rushing through the first part of my appointment wasn't bad enough, when two girls ask if they can get brows/eyelashes done, she accepts and rushes through the rest of my appointment. When she blew out my hair, the ends did NOT match the roots colorwise.
The cherry on top was checking out. One of the reasons that I scheduled with Steve is that he gives a quality appointment, only focuses on one person, and the price is reasonable (around $100). I was NEVER informed that due to the mix up, I would be paying DOUBLE to sit with someone I did not want an appointment with. Morgan also added several 'extras' without my consent or knowledge and just handed me the bill. One of which I am slightly allergic to a chemical in, so it would have been nice if she had asked or informed me so that I could tell her no.
So, ULTA makes a mistake, then expects me to put up with the consequences: a rushed appointment, waiting weeks for specific stylist and have that ignored, hair yanked, subtlety insulted, less than perfect hair, and then pay a premium for that? I'll pay a premium when they go above and beyond, not when I cry as soon as I get to my car over the salon experience.
P.S. I did try to reach out to Morgan after collecting myself. She was "in a meeting" when I called at several different points of the day. I don't think she cares or wants to remedy the situation. She's just glad that I paid without...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI understand people have to make a living and maybe they treat other clients better but they treated me horribly. I made an appointment over the phone and was told that there was availability for a keratin treatment which is easily one of the most expensive services averaging between $250-$300. I show up to the appointment and experienced hair discrimination. I chose Ulta to do my Keratin treatment because I wanted a trained licensed professional to do something that could definitely change the health of my hair if not treated with care. But this stylist told me she wasnāt experienced with my hair texture and refused to even try. She then rescheduled me for a week out with someone who refused to take into account the sensitivity of my hair when she detangled. I have soft color treated hair and get the keratin to strengthen it and up until that point I had so much confidence in my hair. That was until she ripped my hair out during what they call tangle management. I have never experienced more breakage and split ends from a single appointment as I did from this one. If she felt my hair was too tangled, she should have applied a moisturizing product or even better detangled while washing. She didnāt do any of that. She just ripped at my hair until it was a thin brittle mess. Iām honestly very hurt and upset at the damage she caused to my hair and I canāt see a fix for it other than starting over and hoping the progress I made on my natural hair will continue with this treatment. Donāt trust your kinks or your coils with THESE stylists. And now Iām left with the dilemma of who Iām supposed to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreRecently had my hair and makeup done at the salon for a gala and it was the most horrible experience Iāve had. I was there for 3 hours and the stylist just donāt understand the concept of time or better respect their customers time. The worst experience was by stylist JoJo. He washed my hair and put be under the dryer and told me heāll get me in 10 minutes and didnāt come back until 30 minutes later. He didnāt wring out the water from hair so water was dripping down my back and I had to get up and grab a towel from the cabinet and he wasnāt with another customer...just talking to the other stylists. Finally when he got me to the chair, I showed him a picture of the hairdo, a simple blowout with wavy ends parted sideways. As he was making the curls, i was concerned and showed him the picture to remind him what I wanted and he told I have been doing this for many years, I know what Iām doing. Clearly he does NOT because I made an appt at Drybar from my phone while sitting in the chair. It was THAT BAD! I couldnāt go to an event with frizzy curls. Oh heās the type of āstylistā that bumps the curling iron on your ear where I literally said ouch loudly it hurt that much. Finally two hours later, got to do my makeup and that stylist/ makeup artist was a nice guy. But he seemed so rushed that I noticed he didnāt put primer on my face...it was not a pretty look when I looked in the mirror during the middle of the party. Overall, DONāT go there. I usually go to Sephora and Drybar but couldnāt get appts close to each other and ended up here. ...
