I recently discovered Jack's for Cocktails, and it has quickly become one of my favorite spots! Jack's has new ownership now so it's going through some changes. More pool tables, no dance floor or live music. It's really more of a sports bar now than a night club. Not that a sports bar is bad, but it's not the Jack's I grew to love 10 years ago. If you knew the Nicks on wilcrest before it burnt down, he is the new owner (since 1/1/18) and I imagine it will eventually be a lot like the old Nicks was. Although smoking is not allowed inside the bar, there is this one guy that sits at the slot machine smoking cigarettes back to back. No one stops him. It's a typical pool hall, but the cigarettes inside the building are absolutely annoying. I was asked to see my ID, although I'm darn near 40 years old. Meanwhile, this guy is smoking in the building. Isn't smoking cigarettes in the building illegal in Houston? I guess when you know the owner, the laws don't...
