Overall: 3.5
Dish: Grand Slam? (CFS, scrambled eggs, hashbrowns, and biscuit)
Drink: Iced tea
Service was good. Attentive waitress. Arrived at my table quickly and didn't get my order wrong. Refilled my tea as soon as it got halfway. Swung by the appropriate amount of times to follow up with service. The place wasn't crowded so that's to be expected. (Don't worry, still tipped 35% on a roughly $20 meal, I appreciate good service)
Just one non-food related issue that stood out.
Towards the end of my meal there seemed to emanate a sort of aroma that reminded me of mechanical exhaust; similar to car fumes. Not sure what that was but it was somewhat unpleasant and I was seated on the side of the restaurant closest to the kitchen and it lasted for a while all the way up to the end of my meal. I kept hoping it would go away, but that didn't happen. 🤷♂️☹
Food was under seasoned. No other way around it. 🧂
The textures on most things were really good. Eggs didn't seem overcooked and the chicken fried steak (CFS) was plenty crispy. The consistency of the gravy could be a tad thicker and personally I'd prefer crispier hashbrowns but otherwise the texture of the overall meal was good.
CFS was under seasoned, and while yes I understand that's what the gravy is for, I feel the better way to have a positive CFS experience is to focus more on the protein instead of having the sauce (gravy) carry it across the finish line because let me tell ya, the gravy could've used a tad more love too.
Eggs needed some finishing salt and pepper towards the end of the cooking process (salt in the beginning will compromise the texture).
Hashbrowns needed seasoning too.
Biscuit was perfect. Don't change. 👌🏼
Tea was tea. Made fresh. Not too strong or bitter.
I may or may not be back, but they seem to have plenty of positive reviews and perhaps a loyal following so they'll be fine with...

Read moreMy husband and I used to love this place. I'm sorry, that COVID-19 affected Kelley's Country Cookin'. We went tonight and the wait staff was horrible. There were probably only 6 tables of no more than 4 people at each table. There was 6-9 wait staff. We ordered our food, when she brought it out, she didn't bring him all the vegetables he ordered. I ordered Chicken Fried Chicken, but, what I got was Chicken Fried Steak (didn't notice either the vegetable missing and my food was wrong at the time). We asked for Salt & Pepper and Ketchup. About 5 minutes later, she had still not come back to our table with anything (including his vegetables). We were finally able to get her attention. She came over, I explained he didn't get all of his vegetables and what I ordered wasn't what I got, but, by that time, I had already started eating it. She then said oh I'm sorry. Then she said oh yes, we are out of Spinach. But, when she brought our plates out, she could have told him that then. He chose another vegetable, she had still yet to bring the Salt & Pepper or Ketchup. When she finally brought his vegetable, we had to ask again for the S&P and Ketchup. She took her sweet time walking to go get them. Then she got distracted talking to other wait staff. She walked back by us 2 more times, without bringing anything to our table. We got her attention again and she went and got the S&P and Ketchup then. We had already had our food for at least 15-20 minutes at this time. She never came to our table and asked us if we needed anything else, including drinks. This was the absolute worst experience we have ever had at any restaurant, much less Kelley's...
