Terrible customer service. Our first experience here was bad enough for me to leave only 1 star. It was me and my sister's first time eating at this place, which was cafeteria style and was different than what we are used to. We didn't know how it worked. My sister was talking about how she really wanted to order broccoli, so thats what she ordered as her side. After we put in our order, we grabbed a tray like we saw another customer doing. We waited in the middle and another worker said "oh they'll be able to help you down there" and the lady at the end had such a rude attitude. No smile, no greeting. Same from the other lady we ordered with. The lady who took our payment told us we were supposed to grab our salad first, and my sister said "oh its our first time here, so we didn't know". The staff just seemed so irritable and didn't bother explaining anything to us. They just treated us like a nuisance. We sat down to wait for our order, and a different lady who brought us our food, which was also the one bussing all of the tables, was the only nice staff person there. My sister, however, noticed her order was incorrect. They had given her green beans instead of broccoli, and the busser lady said she would get it fixed for her. While we were waiting for her broccoli to come out the one who put in our order came over to our table to say "I'm pretty sure you ordered green beans", simply telling my sister she was wrong and denying that she messed up my sister's order. It was unbelievably RUDE. That is not good customer service practice. You are supposed to apologize and fix it. That lady was so rude and did not want to fix my sister's order, no apology either. I just cannot believe how terrible the 2 ladies attitudes were that were taking orders and cashing people out. The lady who was bussing tables brought my sister the broccoli she ordered shortly after that. After we were done with our meals, we walked outside to the nice woman who was cleaning tables (THE ONLY RESPECTFUL AND PROFESSIONAL ONE BTW), and she asked us if everything was fine, my sister made sure to give that lady a tip because she earned it! She was the only one who at least knew how act caring (whether or not she was pretending). The food was fine, but we'll be sure not to go to this location ever again because the other staff members left a bad taste in our mouth. We won't be recommending this...
Read moreAs someone that has grown up in Kingwood, this place had my heart. Had. It is not like it used to be.
My family and I have been coming and sort of had a rekindling of our obsession with the place. The all-day breakfast used to be the best around. But now, it seems to be that the people here now don’t revere it like the old staff. Not sure what happened to them.
There isn’t any bread out anymore, you have to ask, and even then it’s a pain for them to have to get it for you. They don’t listen when you order OR they type it in wrong and you end up with something else entirely. They don’t cook things to order anymore... If I order scrambled eggs, I end up with over easy. If I order over medium, I dang near have a flat, hard-boiled egg! Hard and tough when I just wanted a non-runny yolk! And then when you go to ask the staff nicely for a re-make, it’s the biggest deal and all the workers have to know you wanted a redo. At this point, after months of trying, the pleasantries are gone and we just simply say “hi, I ordered (x) and this is wrong. Thanks.”
And we are generally gracious, don’t get me wrong. I don’t usually think making this sort of review would be necessary… but it’s been MONTHS since we’ve gotten something right the first time, no matter what the mess up is. Much less with less than one mistake!!
La Madeleine, I hope things look up, because it’s been on a VERY steep decline for a while now, and I’d hate to see a childhood staple go out of business because the service and restaurant in general...
Read moreHad stopped going because the food and service had declined so much. Tried it last Sunday and they got my order wrong. Both the order taker and the cashier read back my order and correctly noted “egg whites omelet”. Didn’t get it. They offered a remake but I declined as mistakes happen and at least it was very good. We decided to go back today and I order the same thing. Again the order taker and cashier read back exactly what I ordered. And again, it didn’t get made that way. Worse, it took well over 30 minutes to get the wrong order. And while they offered to redo it again, I wasn’t going to wait 30 more minutes. The server said she would mention the issue to the manager. From where we were sitting I witnessed her tell him exactly what was wrong. Then he came to our table and said, with great indifference, “They told me to come see you, is there a problem or something? Why am I here”. He knew exactly why he was standing at our table. But I explained it again and explained that, again, while I didn’t need the order remade, I did want them to know that it was wrong two weeks in a row.” He did refund our money which I didn’t ask for. My desire was really just to hopefully have it right if we try again. Which is not likely as this time they dish...
