This is a place that definitely outshines all other Greek restaurants in all of Texas. My wife and I have been to other more familiar Greek restaurants, but Taste of Greek is definitely number 1. We were also very honored and privileged to get a chance to meet and speak with the owner, Alton, who himself is in the back with his team. He's a very friendly and knowledgeable Greek man. 100% knows what he is doing and does an excellent job at bringing Greece to Texas. We're glad we came here for Greek food.
My wife ordered the beef kebab which came with two sides- she chose rice and dolmade- and some pita. The kebabs were packed full of flavor. We recommend using the pita to pinch off a piece if meat and dipping it into the home made tzatziki. Not to mention, the tzatziki here is the king of all tzatzikis'. The rice was flavorful and aromatic, and for the dolmades, we have never had dolmades this good before.
For myself, I wanted to order something other than a typical gyro so I had the mousaka. Let me tell you. I was not disappointed. I don't know how to describe the plate of heaven but it can be compared to comfort food. I definitely recommend this if you're looking to get "outside the box". You will not be disappointed.
Over all 5/5 but we wish we can give 10 stars. Highly recommend coming here especially if you have family or friends visiting. This is the spot. This is our new "go-to" Greek spot. Truly is a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAbout 3 weeks ago I was looking for a place to eat where Iāve never previously eaten. Then I discovered A Taste of Greek, and I am ecstatic I did.
I am originally from Long Island where ethnic foods are the norm. Greek and Mediterranean are amongst foods I frequent. I can state unequivocally their food is the best Greek food I have eaten outside New York. I knew instantaneously on the first bite.
I have been back to the shop several times since to try new dishes and have favorites again. I can say it is consistently prepared to the same high standard of flavor.
From the very first moment I stepped into the store I was treated like I was their best customer even though weāve never met. As I was deciding what to eat, the staff was listening intently and delivered exactly what I was looking for. Their recommendations were spot on. Itās obvious they take great pride in what they are doing.
I have since learned it is a family run business and they are actually from Greece. They represent the embodiment of the American dream; each generationās success improved by the previous generation and the struggles they persevered through.
The whole staff is so friendly and accommodating I donāt understand how any sane individual could possibly feel uncomfortable...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI would give Taste of Greek 5 stars for food because it is always SO GOOD (and their plates are always a hit...I do give those a 5 star review). But my FAVORITE thing there is their Avgolemono (the chicken soup with egg and lemon). Today I have to give them a 4 star as I believe their soup had separated. The soup was not creamy, nor did the orzo hold up. It had curdled apart which is either because the broth was too hot when adding the egg, or the orzo was over cooked and had broken up. The small chunks of white were a little off putting. THAT SAID- the flavor of the soup, the lemon and chicken and carrots together is heaven in a bowl....it just lacked the creamy, velvety texture the soup typically has. Am I still going to eat it? YOU BET I AM....but next time, I will ask before I order it.
I love this place, and am so happy to have them in our community and I love to support this local business- I have ZERO bad reviews to give them for their menu items, they are delicious and I will always suggest to someone to get some of the soup, and some dolmades to go with your dish. It's just this time around, the soup...
