Yesterday I hosted my daughter's 11th birthday party at your Kingwood location. Unfortunately the event was not what we asked for or expected and honestly was extremely disappointing. Multiple things were not as explained.
Imagine our surprise when we show up at 1:45 with party stuff in tow and everyone in their spooky pajamas, as instructed because our viewing was supposed to start at 2pm; ONLY to learn the showing starts at 2:30. I will admit that I had originally requested 2:30 due to grandparents coming in from out of town- however that was not the time I have confirmation of. I did not think anything of it, I was confused but hoping it was a blessing in disguise... until I was handed 14 tickets with assigned seats. Once we were escorted to our auditorium and able to set down all of our bags I decided to ask why we had assigned seats if I had reserved a private viewing? To which I was told it was most definitely not a private viewing and that it was almost sold out. So not only did I show up 30-45min early, have my quest come early, but it was not even what I had told them or my daughter to expect.
I specifically asked for a private auditorium, I even confirmed via a phone conversation on 09/10/25 that we would indeed be getting a private viewing and I even joked about how my sons bought masks to scare their sister during the movie. I even asked if I was able to bring a folding table, balloons, cake or cupcakes to the showing; why would I ask these questions if I knew it was a public viewing? At no point in time was I made aware that the event had changed from a private showing to a public one, I was simply informed that the overall price would go down if I lowered the number of guests. I would have happily paid the original quote to get the viewing we had asked for, but once again I was never told of the change. Needless to say we were unable to hand out cupcakes or do the prank out of respect for the other movie goers. We decided to be respectful to them instead of celebrating my daughters birthday as we intended or planned.
On top of all the other chaos described above, the condition of the chairs we were assigned to were awful. Leather peeling off onto your clothes, stuffing coming out of some of them, some made loud noises when they reclined, some had broken cup holders and trays.
I will say the only positive thing I can say is that the young gentleman who helped us from start to finish, I want to say his name was Andy? (but I might be mistaken), I would assume he was one of the supervisors on duty. He was so helpful and polite. He could tell I was obviously upset and frustrated with all the mix ups but he did the best he could to make it a positive experience given the circumstances.
Honestly I am overall very unsatisfied with the entire experience, not only do I feel like I let my daughter and party guests down. I honestly feel like I was ripped off. I have rented an auditorium before for my son's birthday a few years back, it was a blast, he still talks about it to this day. So I know it can be done and the core memory it can create for a child. Unfortunately my daughter did not get that experience, instead she left with uneaten cupcakes and her friends rushing off since they were now running late to cheer practice due to the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe theater itself is nice. It has almost fully reclining, comfortable seats. They keep it at a cool, comfortable temperature. I love the picture and sound quality. The entire place is generally clean. What prevents it from being a 5 star experience is that every single time we have gone, at some point, someone in the theater busts out their phone. They act like they have a zero tolerance policy, but that is not the case at all. We went to go see Dumbo last night, 4-6-19 at the 9:15pm showing. About an hour in and a woman there with her husband and children pulls her bright phone out in front of me to surf facebook. I let it slide for a few minutes, but I finally stated out loud "that cell phone is bright." The woman turned it off then immediately turned it right back on. I walked outside and caught the first two employees I saw and let them know about Mrs. Inconsiderate ... they see her using the phone and approach her to turn it off and she continues to use it for another minute or two before he gets her to turn it off or have her entire family kicked out. As soon as he leaves, of course she gets ghetto for a few minutes and is swearing in a CHILDRENS MOVIE. I'm not sure who or what calmed the beast after a few loud minutes, but she finally shut her trashy mouth and we were able to enjoy the last portion of the movie without another incident. After last night, I just dont think we will be back again. We are willing to travel a little further or pay more to watch a full,...
