Wanted to find a good local BBQ place on our drive out out of Galveston. Lukas was on the list of cheap bbq eats on google. I always support local establishments. When we arrived, I wondered where the meat was cooked as it is a strip mall (owner later told me how he had indoor wood smokers with large vents that led out through the roof). Once inside I could smell the bbq. I also noticed a variety of plates on the menu from your typical brisket, chicken, and sausage to steaks and sides (beans,Mac and cheese, fries, chips, etc). My wife and son had the chopped brisket sandwich with fries and I had the three meat plate that came with two sides. Chicken and sausage were very good. I enjoyed the brisket as it was good too but I like mine very moist. I forgot to ask for it. Got brisket that was in between but that is on me. If you want brisket to be moist ask for it. The sides were good. Mac and cheese was very good. Soda machine was out of order but owner said we could drink bottled drinks which are more expensive. He did not charge extra. Very nice atmosphere and not loud. We went at about 4pm on a Saturday so there were only a few customers. I would go again as meals were under $40 for three of us. That’s about $13 each for bbq. Reasonable considering I was charged $67 for seafood in Galveston the day before for the three of us. Parking and seating were adequate. Also, food was served as we ordered-no...
Read moreWe ordered Luka's through Door Dash based on the reviews there, and the prices seemed reasonable. We ordered 1lb of turkey, 1lb of sausage, 1 coleslaw, 2 dirty rice, 2 drinks, and 2 cobblers. Food arrived on the cold side, but that's a risk when ordering from a food delivery app. BBQ sauce was okay but watery. Coleslaw was good. I didn't care for the dirty rice but my boyfriend said it was okay. Sausage and turkey were good, not great but not bad. The fountain drinks were a big size which is nice. The thing that really annoyed us was, I ordered TWO peach and blackberry cobblers, and either DoorDash or the restaurant substituted for ONE coconut flan. We should have been refunded or contacted to see which we preferred or which substitution would have been wanted. Not to mention the flan was $1.00 more expensive than the cobbler. DoorDash's customer service is awful. Asked for a refund and was denied, the chat agent was basically like "so sad so sorry. Bye!" and ended the chat before I could even finish reading their message and reply. So be aware if you order through a food app that you may run into issues if your order is wrong or missing items. We might consider trying Luka's again, but would opt to dine-in. The only reason we ordered through a food app this time was due to our work and work travel schedules. Meals for two averaged $32pp before DD fees,...
Read moreFor my bbq and simple steak restaurant in a strip shopping center - I thought is was really pretty good. The baked potato was very good but they were out of my favorite, baked sweet potatoes. The sausage and ribs were good, the brisket was tender. We had ribeye (special that Tues) and it was thin but properly Med-Rare, hot, juicy, and seasoned. The Okra alone is worth a return trip! They were out of tea but were very happy to accommodate and make more.
They didn't have many customers so it doesn't surprise me that they would have been out of some items. They DO have to prioritize. On the Tues we went there were a few friends there playing some bluegrass music in a circle (like a jam session) and we loved it! Just sounded like friends enjoying each other. Overall - is it a world renowned steak and or BBQ place? No. But it was flavorful, reasonably priced, and the staff members were attentive. I...
