We tried to get reservations at 2-3 other steakhouses in the Katy area on Saturday night, however the wait times were an hour or more. Surprisingly, when we called Lynn's, we were told there was no wait and simply gave our name to reserve a table for 2. When we arrived, we were quite impressed with the ambiance and relaxed, comforting atmosphere of the restaurant. We were immediately greeted by the owner who quickly had us seated in a quiet but welcoming corner of the smaller dining area.
Let me start by saying, I've tried dozens of steakhouses across the country. Lynn's has to be Houston's best kept secret and possibly America's best kept secrete and for good reason. The menu is pretty simple, and equally there's only one word that can be used to describe the steaks: AMAZING! We ordered the prime filet and prime ribeye. Both were cooked to absolute medium perfection. Which was impressive in itself because surprisingly from my experience, many steak joints (prime steakhouses included) manage to screw up the temperatures on their steaks more often than you would expect. I can assure you these steaks were cooked flawlessly. The beef was so tender and juicy, each bite literally melts in your mouth. My only minor complaint would be that my filet did not make it to the table piping hot which is how I like my steak, but understandably that can happen when 2 different cuts of steak are ordered at the same table. My girl's rib eye did arrive piping hot. The only thing I would have done differently is go with the rib eye instead of the filet because it was just as tender as the filet (which usually isn't the case) and the rib eye was a lot more flavorful because, well that's how rib eyes are ; ). The side of mash potatoes was excellent, you could tell the spuds were made from scratch. I also had the lobster bisque as an appetizer, it was very flavorful with a nice kick to it.
Our waiter was very attentive and provided us with excellent hospitality and service. The owner personally checked up on us a couple of times throughout the meal to make sure we were enjoying the food and our dining experience. Upon paying the check, I asked our waiter if I could speak with the owner, who made it to our table within a minute. I thanked him for the superior service and let him know what I mentioned in my review above as far as their steaks being the best I've ever had. And trust me, I've had many a fine steak in my lifetime. The owner was genuinely pleased and thankful, which put a smile on my face. We definitely plan to be back many more times in the future. 5 big stars all...
Read moreI went here last week for a family event, so it had a table d'hote menu. I was very happy with the food and the staff was very courteous and kind. I always feel nervous bringing children to a nice place like this, but because it was a family event I had to bring my 6 and 3 year old kids. The staff made my three-year-old chicken fingers because she doesn't like steak, and my six-year-old son ate all of his 6 ounce steak and even tried the tomato soup (he's not a huge tomato fan so this is a big compliment to the chef, I loved the soup too). I usually don't eat bread at restaurants because a lot of it is disappointing, but the bread at Lynn's is exceptional--I ate two pieces of it, it was warm and had clearly been baked that morning, it was great. I had a filet, salad, and carrot cake. The salad was not overdressed, which I appreciated. The steak was cooked medium rare just as I asked. I wish there had been more broccoli on the plate, but other than that I have no complaints. The cake was good. A tad sweeter than I like it, but I'm also kind of weird with desserts, really sweet stuff isn't my preference. The cake had an excellent texture. My son had mousse and I tried it--it was also on the sweeter side but had a really nice lightness to it. Overall, I'm happy I got to eat here, and I would highly recommend this to anyone for either a family event or a business lunch. I didn't get to try their wine selection but I looked at the shelves and they have a very impressive collection of good wines, so if you go for dinner I would recommend you speak with their sommelier to get a recommendation...
Read moreI graded this a 3 star after a lot of careful consideration. I will start with the service. I took my wife there for our anniversary about 2 weeks ago. No one was there to greet us at the door for about 2 minutes. After being seated, we did not get a waiter about 10-15 minutes. I nice man did come to our table and asked if we had been helped. He left to check on some things and came back a few minutes later and became our waiter. He served our table well. The manager also visited our table several times. The young lady that came to seat us got into an argument with a customer due to how much time she took to get their bill. The young lady was not on point that night. My waiter and the manager are the reason this is getting 3 stars. I wanted to do 3.5, but google doesn't allow it. Now to the food. The snapper was not done well. It was very underwhelming. My wife had the steak. I did try a piece of her stack, and we agreed it needed work. I hate to say this, but I don't think we had the best version of the cool/chef that night. The inside of the restaurant is decorated very well. I like the scene. I would also like to mention that they gave us a card that was signed for our anniversary. They also gave us a slice of cake and a glass of champagne. If the food was better, we would go again. Maybe it was an off night, but the food has to be better. We spent about 260-ish dollars, which includes a...
