*Edited after owner response: You can assure me all you want that your food is "fresh", this doesn't make it true however. Frozen/flash frozen is not fresh and it definitely showed. As I stated below, the only fresh food was, indeed, the fish. When you speak of "my expectations not being met" it sounds like you're saying my standards are too high. Oi! When you advertise fresh, do fresh. Not frozen food that's microwaved and served luke warm. Thanks but no thanks, we won't try again as it's obvious that your expectations of the food served there aren't beyond fast food places. With such a canned response I'm taking that 2nd star off. My original review: We went there last Thursday. It's a bit crowded, table furniture. The outside is decent but it was too cold to sit out there. Our food came before our appetizers. The food, except our fish, was frozen and you can tell it. The fish pieces were really good. The sauce sucks. The stuffing for the crabs and jalapeno poppers are the same and the bits of shrimp in the mix was clear. It tasted awful. While the fresh fish was hot, the rest of the meal was tepid, luke warm. I stuck my finger down into the center of the stuffed crab, it was cold. Their salads are ok, like a garden salad pack you can buy at a grocery store. I only give them 2 stars because the fish saved the night. Also the roll was store bought, not made there or even heated up. We won't go back.

Mambo’s Seafood (290 & Hollister): ⸻ With Mambo’s, you can’t miss—it’s one of those places you either love or you don’t. For me, I love it, and I’m loyal to my favorites. I’ve tried different things on the menu, but my go-to never changes: raw oysters. Believe it or not, Mambo’s was the first place I ever tried them, and now I can’t eat them any other way. I load them up with lime, habanero, salt, and michelada sauce, mix it all together in a bowl, and it’s perfection. I also always order the Mambo-style shrimp and shrimp fried rice, paired with a cold michelada. Today, I even asked for boiled shrimp—not on the menu, but they still brought it out—and I enjoyed it the same way as the oysters. The only downside today was the service. Our server wasn’t really listening, and she kept forgetting things, so the service was a bit questionable. Still, the food was on point, the oysters were fresh, and overall, it was a good visit. Bottom line: I’ll keep coming back. When it comes to Mambo’s, I know what I like, and they always deliver.

The truth was one of my favorite places when I come to Houston but in these last two occasions that the food has come under a lot of its quality and the service also this last visit I asked for the number 7 dish, what is octopus with a mambo sauce and the truth is very bad, I had a lot of onion in large trosos, a lot of rosemary and A lot of garlic and very little octopus is more than the aforementioned what of the protein I really hope they make a change in the preparation of their dish and a little more care in their service I understand that it is a very busy place but that does not imply that the service is so bad or that the waitresses are of Bad mood and run and run and let you drop the dirty dishes from other tables and don't come to clean the axidient, don't be able to apologize

The security officer for this resteraunt needs & will be fired & I have sufficient reasons why.his public interactions with the public involving verbal & physical activity are of his discretions & violate his official services. This security officer has both verbally & physically assaulted public citizens on Mambos property & a security officer does not have the right or authority to do either activity.I on the night of October 29th was verbally threatened by this security officer to leave the property & " as long as i work for this place you can not be on this property" & voiced a countdown & followed me in a threatening manner & when I said to not follow me he aggressively approached me.I did not do anything wrong & cause any security problems & the security officer was indeed being very personally aggressive to me.That is a public voolation.I have discussed this with Mambo General Manager that said will be discussing this security officers activity on duty & will be addressed as a corporate matter. This security officer continues to communicate with non mambo customers about what is going on with his job & mambo of that I am trying to get him fired & that is not to be spoken to anybody other than his company furthermore this such communication is gang activity because the security officer is trying to get me physically harmed by public men he knows in this area that are not mambo customers. To conclude a female & male manager has advised me that corporate staff will have a decision, therefor that decision will be this security officer services will be discontinued ,due to public interaction involving discussing physical harm to me by such public male individuals,at this mambo location. I have discussed with management about this & was advised that issues will be discussed & addressed including a decision will be made & has resulted in a very serious violation of that this security officer has publicly discussed that I am discussing to achieve him being fired which us being intervened to high profiled gang members advising me to move somewhere or the area gang members will take their serious action.Managrment has said they will talk to this security officer & he retaliated by being very personal & discussing with noncustomer public which is violations of security services representing mambo & the security company.Further I have not been on Nambo property or associated with this security officer & this security officer should do the same yet refuses to do so concluding that his security services are not a...

Mambo Seafood has been a family favorite for a while now. But, me and my family were used to the "not so great" service and really just stuck to the "you get what you pay for" everyone has mentioned previously so we stopped going. After hearing this location was under new management we decided to go ahead and dine in instead of just calling to go. I must say the place looks 10x more sanitary than before, we were acknowledged right away by the hostess and directed to a big table right in front of the lobster tank. Our waitress saw us but was taking another table's order and just nodded at us and as soon as she could she went our way she introduced herself as Jary and apologized for her delay. We understand that the restaurant was prettying busy so waiting extra minute while she finished wasn't a big deal. She went ahead and took our drinks and brought them within minutes, once we decided to get the family meal on the menu she suggested we checked out the little blue pamphlet they have up front and handed us one she had in hand. Honestly I don't know if that's a new thing but I didn't even know that existed. Thanks to that we were able to pick something else, which made everything much easier rather that picking the one in the menu and adding to that. The food wasn't delayed, which was a problem we used to run into all the time. Our waitress was very kind, she check up on us often, refilled our drinks before we had time to finish them and made us feel very comfortable. Overall, it was great, highly recommend giving this place a second chance. The staff seems more educated on the menu and new management seems to be running things a lot more smoothly than before, we will definitely continue to be regular costumers,...
