El Nayarita — Restaurant in Houston

My family and I drove in from Katy after seeing many advertisements on instagram. We ordered the nayarita dip for appetizer which was actually pretty damn mid as well as the shrimp empanadas which were quite DELICIOUS! Which is why this earned two stars. They were the best part of the entire meal. We then ordered our entrees which were 2 caldo 7 mares and an agua chiles. The caldo was pretty good compared to other restaurants. Except the shrimp came head on which isn’t something I’m used to so it instantly turned me off. The Agua Chile’s, DISGUSTING. There was so much chile and very little shrimp. Was not edible. The waitress was not very attentive. She didn’t come back for 20 minutes after serving our food. My husband damn near choked because he finished his beer within that time. The restaurant was not busy this night and we had to keep getting another waitress to assist us because ours was nowhere to be found. We let the waitress know we were not happy with the agua chiles plate and told her to take it back and asked for the check. We waited 40 minutes for the check to even be brought out to us after our plates were removed from the table and we were still charged for the plate we did not eat. To put the cherry on top they charge you a 3% fee for using a debit or credit card. What a scam!!! Very disappointed in the service and the food, again it was MID. Will not return. Do not recommend go to mambos or somewhere else....

This place sucks. We wanted the shrimp soup but the host told us the shrimp was served with the shell, head etc, and we would have to peel it ourselves. For the price you would think the shrimp would be peeled & ready to eat. So we ordered the fish soup instead. It taste like tomato soup with shrimp. I tried adding lots of lemon thinking it would taste more like seafood / fish soup it but it still sucked. The servers never came to the tables for about 20 minutes after the food was served so we couldn’t tell him we didn’t like and ask if we could get something else instead. When he finally came back we asked him for something else and he tells us we can get u something else but they would have to charge us, then says if you had told me at the beginning we could have gotten you guys something else. We questioned how can we tell you at the beginning when you didn’t even come back for 20 minutes. The soup was basically still in tact and we only ate maybe a few spoonful’s to hold off our hunger till the server came back to our table . Overall looks are deceiving, it looks like a huge place decorated nicely with a lively atmosphere but the food sucks and should be shut down or they should just advertise as a club karaoke club and not serve any food. This is more of a place where people party, get drunk and don’t care what the food taste like and settle for anything. So don’t go if your sober or if your taste buds...

We saw a tiktok about this restaurant and we’re excited to try with high expectations. We were sat down pretty quickly which we were a party of 5, 2 adults, 2 highchairs and 1 child. We ordered guacamole and “jalapeño dip” the Guac was decent, but when the jalapeño dip came out, it turns out it was just queso w/ pickled jalapeños. It was also okay. Now for the entrees, my child had a hamburger with only mustard and pickles. My husband had the whole fried snapper and I had the Filete Nayarita. When the kids hamburger came out it was like they just threw the whole mustard bottle on the hamburger on the top bun and the bottom bun, and then there was cucumbers on the burger. I know cucumbers and Pickles sound similar in Spanish but I think it’s common sense that cucumbers don’t go on a burger. My husbands fried snapper was pretty good, but the filete Nayarita was just not it. I thought it was going to be a creamy chipotle sauce like the picture but all it was was the same queso dip with chipotle added to it. It tasted just like the queso dip and was just too much, it was not good at all. The TikTok just hyped up the entire meal and we were completely let down. On top of that the service was not great. It took us nearly 25 minutes to flag the waitress down to get our ticket to pay for our food and leave in which it was not busy at all. There was only 3 other tables of people.
