On Sunday, May 21 around 12:15pm, I went there for lunch and sat at the right corner towards the register. There was 1 table next to us but they left by the time we got our food. So it was just my table. Later that day, I called them at 8:17pm, for about 44 seconds. I let them know I was there during lunch time & told him I left my purse and gave him a description on what my purse looked like and he confirmed that it’s there. He then told me to pick it any time and I told him I’ll pick it up some time that following week, then he hung up the phone right before i had the chance to give him my information. And then, I was thinking that my purse was the only item that was left behind at this restaurant, because he did not provide me any questions about my purse. My husband went to go pick up my purse on Tuesday night and the worker told him that somebody already picked it up. And my husband called me told me about what had happened and then I told him there is no way that's possible, because I didn’t tell the workers who was going to pick it up. The Korean lady there, told me her employee already gave away MY PURSE to this random guy who was looking for his wife’s wallet and purse and so he (the worker) assumed both of the items belonged to his wife, without confirming any of the information. In my mind, I was pretty sure both of the items were left behind at the restaurant at different times, by different people. And so, my question is, why would he think that it would be the same person would possess both of these different belongings? And then I asked the lady if they have any cameras and her response was that the cameras are not working, because someone broke in on Friday or whatever & said there is no surveillance footage of this interaction. And then she literally yelled at me asking “why didn’t you pick it up earlier??!!” She said that twice. And I was extremely shocked because how was she going to raise her voice at me over the phone & not even say sorry at all. And they have nerve to tell my husband that it’s not their fault, when they literally gave away MY PURSE to a random man. The lady told me she will call us back the next day, which was Wednesday, and now it's already Friday and they have not...
Read moreA very unique noodle experience! I've never had cold noodles let alone cold broth noodles, so I of course wanted to expand my curiosity...
I got their pan fried pork dumplings and bibimguksu (#10 on menu), which is hand pulled chlorella noodles (an algae with a bunch of nutritional benefits) with spicy sauce, veggie assortments, and a half hard boiled egg. The noodles also come with two types of kimchi as your complimentary side [ I personally prefer the white kimchi over red b/c the red kimchi reminded me of Ba Khia crab not my favorite :( ]. Here's my verdict:
Pan fried dumpling (4/5): solid! I just love pan fried dumplings and this dish felt elevated with the complimentary kimchi sides.
Bibimguksu (4.5/5): Like other yelpers, the one word to describe this noodle dish is that it's very refreshing! The texture of the noodles and veggies is the highlight. Al dente, bouncy noodles paired with the fresh crunchiness of radish, cucumber, cabbage, and other components of the dish makes it well rounded! I do believe, however, that my meal didn't feel complete/satisfying without the pan fried dumplings. As much as I love the bibimguksu, it was difficult to clean the bowl because of that rich, savory spicy sauce. Imo, this meal is best enjoyed with the bibimguksu + pan fried pork dumpling combo.
Overall, a pleasant experience. Looking forward for the opportunity to try their other...
Read moreTypical Korean spot. Perfectly sized for Bellaire. It’s always busy, so I today I stopped in after the lunch rush…around 2:15. The pace was largely empty and I got to try the spicy kalguksu. It was pretty good. The spicy broth was a bit overpowering but much healthier than ramen.
I should’ve tried the original. Next time, I’ll order some of the dumplings. The mini dumplings in the soup did not have any taste and I didn’t end up finishing them, but the soup was hearty. See pics of menu and video of the noodles. They were fresh, not hand pulled like I said in my video. :) the service was good. Bathrooms were okay, the dining Space felt like I was in Seoul.
The banchan was simple. You have a dongchimi and a grab kimchi which are staples for a kalguksu place. This is right NEXT to mochinut but I do not like this parking lot and my car has been scratched and dinged lots in this strip mall… so FYI but it’s a nice Korean eatery in Bellaire. I’d def come back to dry just dumplings and the cold noodles and other boonshik. There is a good variety of Korean noodles and fast food type of quick dishes to choose from.
My server (the only server at this time) was a tatted Korean female. She was great. She was professional, perfectly energetic without being in your face. I had a comfortable meal, alone, and she was efficient...
