Mikki's Soul Food Cafe — Restaurant in Houston

There's no soul in the food. They tried to pass off ground meat patty in gravy as pepper steak, there was no steak....when i asked for a different meat cause it wasnt the kind of meat i thought it to be she gave me bout 5 lies to try and not exchange it. I said this is not steak its ground beef...i say pepper steak is made with steak...she had an excuse saying its the seasoning we use....its still not steak lady....she tried to lie and say that it says ground beef patty on the menu, the name plate and the receipt...the menu and name plate said pepper steak...i showed my receipt and it said meat loaf...she then asked where did i get my receipt as if she didnt see me go to the table i was sitting at...then asked the cashier what time she took my order....so since my receipt said meat loaf she tell the cashier we took a loss since she rung up the wrong thing and then offered to give me a whole different plate with different meat....she know she was in the wrong anyway...arguing with me...who pays 15 dollars for 2 pieces if small ground meat patties smorhered in gravy...damn shame owner managr or whoever u are...gave me a hard time for no reason....the food isn't even cooked all the way...damn oxtails stuck to the bones and needed to be cooked more with light gravy not dark but light...the best on my plate was the green beans...corn wasn't even cooked all the way....smmfh....

3/31/2024 I said I wasn’t going go here any more but seems like they were the only soul food near us after church that were open and I was hungry. Disappointed again, I got turkey necks 4 lil small pieces (2 cut in half) basically they were good. I also got cabbage and black eyed peas they were good as well….now i also chose dressing instead of rice, that dressing was so disgusting man….i just know that was stove top dressing they served….the texture was bad the taste was horrible….on top if that they’re stingy with the portions….im paying too much for a small portion of turkey necks, cabbage and blackeyed peas…those pics on here is not what my 20 dollar plate looked like….they gave more of that nasty dressing though…couldn’t enjoy it like I wanted to…but never again….they will not replace, take it back...

I was helping a woman I saw struggling with four boxes in pouring down rain, she was doing an Insta Cart Order so I helped her carry the boxes in. Anyhow after I walked out an heavier lightskin woman ran behind me keep in mind I was already outside, yelling at the top of her lungs talking about you can't be in here dress like that we have a dress code,you can't come back in here . Oh btw people I was wearing shorts and a top. I didn't know it was a dress code to help someone that was struggling ! When I got in my car I saw two white woman got inside with mini dress on one had on a pink and the other dress was blue neither had sleeves. Yet no one told them they had to leave ! I never had any intentions of eating /drinking anything from that restaurant, it smells awful, and the workers are extremely unprofessional and rude and the food looked overdone and dry. I never even heard of it until today as of the 29th of August 2022. The way that woman screamed at me as though I was trying to rob the place and she was an Officer. I didn't disrespect that woman because I'm better than that ! If i was anyone else I'm pretty sure she'd been shot or punched in her face! I'm extremely offended and very upset about this! I think she thought i am younger than i actually am even if i was she shouldn't be speaking to anyone like she was! Believe me when I go out to eat I know how to dress! I'll never in my life step a foot in that old fish smelly restaurant ! I won't ever go in any of the locations period! That was my first and last time in Mikki's Soulfood Cafe ! I'll forever be fine even when people are being ugly 🧿🧿🧿🧿🧿. Btw My Birthday is tomorrow as of the 30th of August can't wait to celebrate and eat inside a clean restaurant that doesn't have employees...

As much as I strive to support our black owned businesses, I am increasingly disappointed. My experience with picking up food and dining in at Mikki's Soul Food Cafe has always been great. The problem seems to be with the delivery. This is the third time that I have had a less than favorable experience. The problem is NOT with Uber but the ability of the employees to read and pack what has been ordered along with running out of product when I'm sure dinner is a busy time. For the third time, they didn't have any white meat. I called the restaurant as I was instructed the last time I had a problem. I was told whenever I place an order for Uber delivery to call them and specify my choice of meat since they don't really have an area on their order form to do so. I was told when I called that they were out of white meat once again. I was about to cancel my order when the young lady put me on hold and then returned to say she was able to find two chicken breasts and a thigh and wings. I was grateful to her for going the extra mile. I told her to keep the thigh meat and wings because I don't eat that part of the chicken. I said I would be okay with the white meat only, even if it were just one piece. Got my order delivered, and what did I get... three pieces of slimy thigh meat, no white meat. 🤢 To add insult to injury, they also didn't pack some of the requested vegetables that I had actually ordered. I called back and spoke to the young lady, and she was not the one who packed the order but was the one who told me she had found the white meat. I asked how to get a refund. She told me to call Uber for a refund. Will NOT be spending my dollars with them again through Uber. In the trash, the chicken...
