Can't really speak to the food...we just had some tea which was very good. They make their own syrups, but since we can't do sugar we couldn't try those out - and they don't make sugar-free options. The place has a cute ambiance, and while we were there they were playing soft jazz mixed with occasional things like chill Hawaiian music. My only qualm with the place is, I guess due to the layout/building materials or something...it was not exactly a "chill" place to be. Most of the time it felt like I was in the middle of an industrial metal shop. Between the slamming of the doors on both sides of the room, to the slamming of the bags of ices on the metal counters, a dishwater guy crashing dishes around...coupled with sounds you really can't avoid in a coffee shop like the loud espresso machine hissing and the slamming of the filter handle to knock out used grounds. Whew! I really had my shoulders up after a short stay.
Update: Fixed the "Service" star rating after getting the truly professional...

Within my first few moments, I had terrific conversation with the barista and enjoyed my beverage. I remember wondering what it was that I liked so much, and I think it was the fact that it reminded me of the best parts of my favorite shops. You can tell they really thought a lot about their drinks, since you’ll see unusual flavor profiles and yet they somehow work. Some of which I really enjoyed, others not as much because I wasn’t used to the taste palette. They have a drink for nearly anyone. Finally, I think what distinguishes them the most is the friendliness and warmth of the baristas. Each one has their own cool personality and they sometimes...
Read moreThis morning, the Today show had a short blurb on money saving apps. The one that caught my ear was TooGoodToGo.
Food businesses use ToGoodToGo to sell their daily overstock for reducee rates at the end of their business day. It is a free app, easy to use, and full of delicious food from places I would not usually afford.
Today there were offers from restaurants, my dream ice cream maker, bakeries galore, and other specialty shops.
I prepaid, and at the designated pick up time, arrived at New Heights Coffee Roasters. For $6.99, I got a package of freshly ground beans (about 12 oz) that smell like something really really good is going to happen in the morning!
Can’t wait to see what is offered on...
