I'm a photographer, I went into Nidda Thai and met the owner who agreed to let me come in and take photos of their food. I'd promise to post to my IG, but this review isn't something she's expecting and it's from my true experience with Nikki and Nidda Thai. I basically came home, edited some photos and got to writing this review.
I first came to Nidda Thai because I was looking for a spontaneous restaurant close to my home. We came across it online, and we ordered safe: I had the chicken in garlic sauce, and we ordered the Drunken Noodles. I went it, picked it up and got it home still hot. The food was fantastic. i'm a fan of chicken in garlic sauce, and let me suggest that if you are too, you have to try this dish. Garlic is present in a nice sauce over rice and chicken, that all the other dishes i've tried in the city don't compare.
The drunken noodles were superb, spicy as they should be, and the noodles and protein portions were sufficient to fill my appetite and then some.
After taking photos today, trying different dishes, and chatting it up with the owner and the staff, Nidda Thai has become my new favorite restaurant in town, even though it's been there for 14 years.
Here's what you should get. Pork Belly (for sure) Drunken Noodles Chicken in Garlic Sauce Tom Yum Glass Noodles and Shrimp dish (Can't remember the name) Soft Shell Crab over Curry and veg.
I'd recommend going into this little quaint thai restaurant, order some drinks, get dessert, the Taro dessert...
Read moreThe fact that I’m writing this review moments after I’ve walked out the door says a lot ….. me and my bf were in the mood for something spicy and I thought what better then Thai food ! I searched for spots in our area and this was one of the first to pop up . The place was really cute and felt very home like . I ordered the chicken drunken noodles and he ordered nidda fried rice both ( medium) hot , which is usually almost too spicy for me . We both started eating and noticed there was not only no spice AT ALL it lacked flavor in general , I asked to try his and he tried mine , both just tasted like straight pepper . I asked our waiter about it and he just said do you want us to remake it , my thoughts are I didn’t want to have to go through this experience a second time and politely asked for our bill. Moments later he came to the table and I handed him my card assuming we would only be charged for our drinks and appetizer considering we didn’t eat none but two to three bites of our entrees . We paid FULL price , without an explanation or an apology . I feel fooled to have paid $15 an entree that tasted like peppery frozen noodles and would recommend nobody spend...
Read moreFinally, a solid Thai food experience in Houston! The decor is nice and spacious inside, and the most important thing: the food and service were quite impressive.
The server was very helpful in making sure my first impression wouldn't be my last by suggesting the Curry Noodle. I always request the dishes on the hotter side, and the spice level was spot on.
They have some unique specials worth exploring, which I'll do for future visits. The price was nice, and the food was on point, so that's all you need to know. Plenty of parking in the lot.
The only reason it gets 4 stars is because while dining in, there's just a cluster of workers (maybe delivery or general staff) seated in this one area. Might be a normal thing for some spots in Houston, but I'm not used to seeing the workers just 'chilling' out like that. Nevertheless, I'd highly recommend if you're looking for Thai...
