Been coming here for 20 yrs now--pretty much since they first opened--and like all places they've evolved over time--generally for the better. Food has never been their strong suit and if anything, that's gotten weaker over time. I just ordered something that I've had dozens of times over the years--the Italian Goat pizza--and it was the worst it's ever been. It was never "really" a pizza... wrong bread... but this time it was literally just a hoagie type sandwich bun cut in half with some toppings on it. (Maybe they were out of their regular bread?) So it was essentially an open faced sandwich... pretty small... so, basically toast... with some dried up meat and some goat cheese on it... for $14? Come on, man. It's basically a small appetizer in a beer garden for what you'd typically pay for a burger and fries just about anywhere in town. For what I was brought out, $7 or $8 would have been about right. Not nearly double that. Sure, yeah, I know... "inflation"... but this was never an expensive dish to make... a couple of bucks in materials... so inflation can't really explain the high costs and low quality. The meat was more like beef jerky... stuck in my teeth for hours until I could fish it out with some floss. Not good. For ONE draft beer and TWO of these tiny, cheap "pizzas", the bill was nearly $40 with tax and tip. That's just crazy. So... I'm not gonna hammer these guys with a 1 star review for something this minor--overall I'm a fan of the business and wish them well--there aren't that many decent / proper beer gardens in Houston to begin with. But if they could just step up their food game--which has ALWAYS been weak--they could...

It takes a lot for me to leave a bad review -- but this was the absolute worst service and experience I have ever had at any establishment. The food was fine, the coffee was fine, the abundance of crows and grackles was cool and the outdoor outlets were convenient. However, I ordered some a la carte sides; biscuits, bacon, potatoes, and over-medium eggs. When our food was brought out, the eggs were not there. So I went inside and let the cashier know we were missing a couple of over-medium eggs whenever they had a second. He then brought out the ticket and showed me where I had ordered the eggs. I confirmed yes, this is what I ordered. He then told me the eggs were delivered to my table. I assured him that everything else on the ticket was delivered, but there were no eggs. They accused me of lying and said they did deliver the eggs so they could remake them but they would have to charge me. I said again, no eggs were delivered to our table. The cashier then spoke to a manager and they begrudgingly agreed to actually make the eggs, and said something along the lines of "we'll remake them for no charge but yeah..." The eggs were finally brought out a few minutes later, I thanked the server who brought them but they did not respond. And when I looked at the "over-medium" eggs, they were still completely raw in some parts, there was liquid egg-white covering the plate. The rest of the food was pretty decent but we felt so uncomfortable after being accused of lying about our food being delivered that we didn't even finish it. I could not in good faith recommend for anyone to go here. I would have rather had worse food elsewhere and not been treated...

My son and I went to explore the annual Sunday Farmer's Market. With the crowd and the wonderful smells emanating from Onion Creek we HAD to go inside. It was a little confusing figuring out what we needed to do. There is no hostess to seat you. You have to seat yourself. There are no waitstaff to take your order. You place your order at the bar and they give you a number to take to your table. Luckily there is a little lounge area to sit while you wait for a table to become available. You need to claim your table fast. The staff comes to clean the table pretty fast. Your food is delivered to your table by the bartender or the table busboy. No one will bring you water. You have to get all your beverages from the bar. The crowd seemed to be made up of a lot of regulars who know the routine. Several TVs are mounted and many were tuned-in to the sports broadcast. Lots of beers on tap or choose from a selection of can ones. We discovered the FROZEN MOON which was refreshing and really good. Our food was really good too. I ended up looking up the menu on-line. I had no idea where the menu was in the restaurant. I didn't see any menus anywhere. I guess I could have asked the bartender for that too... I don't recommend it if you are in a rush or on a tight schedule. If you have a Sunday to linger and go with the flow then you'll love it. Lots of activity. Great food. Checkout the Farmer's Market: CBD, local coffee, vegetables, local honey, gluten-free cookies, handmade jewelry, art, handmade candles, plants and more!!! It's on the Onion...

Onion Creek is a charming and cozy restaurant located in the heart of The Heights neighborhood in Houston. This restaurant is known for its delicious menu items including breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner. And I noticed that they also have crawfish staring at noon most days. I made my morning visit with a delicious breakfast dish in mind. I decided on the 6th Street Migas which is made with three eggs scrambled with tortilla chips, cheddar cheese, pico and queso and cotija side salsa verde & fresh flour tortillas. It all came with a side of black beans. I must say, I may have had the best migas I have ever had. The eggs are cooked to perfection, fluffy and moist. The tortillas chips add a nice crunch to the dish, and the onions and peppers add a burst of flavor. The warm flour tortillas are soft and fluffy, and they made for a great delivery system for the migas. The friendly service at Onion Creek is also to be noted. The staff was not only friendly and attentive, but also they made me feel at home. The atmosphere of Onion Creek is cozy and inviting, with a rustic decor on the inside and a large shaded patio outside. In conclusion, if you are looking for a delicious and satisfying breakfast, brunch, or anything else in Houston, Onion Creek is right in the middle of Houston. You gotta try the migas. You won't be disappointed.
