The service we received last night was so beyond the pale that I am writing the first negative review of my life. In fact, if you view all my other posts, you will see I have only given five star reviews in the past because I like to use this site to promote businesses who deserve recognition. Everyone has an off-night and makes mistakes I can gladly overlook - this was not that.

My husband and I came in for an early dinner. We were celebrating a special night but had plans later in the evening so we came in before the dinner crowd so we could leave quickly. We were literally the first customers to be seated for dinner, and we watched the staff record that night's specials on the chalkboard. We ordered what I would consider two of the simplest items on the menu - the seafood crepes and the salmon, with no special requests to complicate the order. Our drinks and salads came out quickly.

We watched several more tables being seated, customers ordering their food, customers receiving their food, customers paying their bill, and customers leaving. I am not exaggerating when I say one hour later, our waiter emerged to tell us our food would be here "soon". He did not make eye contact and scurried away before we could ask any questions. He did not return for another fifteen minutes when we summoned for him. He offered no apology, just an explanation that he had repeatedly asked the kitchen to prepare our food and didn't understand why they had not done so. We asked to speak to the manager and he disappeared again. We finally chased the waiter down in the restaurant ourselves, and he said the manager refused to come out of the kitchen because they were short staffed and he was too busy. We went to the front desk and asked for the host to page the manager, and the host also told us that the manager was too busy to come out of the kitchen. We asked for the name of the manager on duty and he gave it to us - Eduardo Amali. I even called later in the evening and they said he was still too busy to even come to the phone.

We left without our dinner. The waiter comped our drinks and salad, so there's at least that. I always prefer to deal with problems privately rather than in a public forum, but I tried desperately to address this privately and the restaurant refused to address me at all. No explanation and no apology.

I don't expect we will ever return - there are too many other wonderful options...

On Wed, June 26th I dined with my family (eight ppl) in celebration of my birthday. It was my first-time at Ouisie's Table, and I was excited to see what all the hype was about. Upon first glance it was nice and cozy. Other than that, everything else went downhill shortly after being seated. Here are my points:

It took more than 30 minutes for us to get water served at our table "SAD" mini muffin trio was served an hour later Hors d'Oeuvres: two out of three - fair. The crab cakes though, seriously! FIRE the Chef and/or get a new recipe. Our reservation was at 6:30p. We were not served dinner until after 9:00PM. There was a really large private party (60ppl or more) taking place. Meanwhile, there was a dining room packed with people not getting serviced timely or otherwise. It appeared, there was no Quisie's leadership to manage this disaster. Customers were all asking, what is going on and no one could give a justifiable answer. Why would you take reservations or continue to accept walk-ins knowing you did not staff-up or could manage the flow of service. UNACCEPTABLE!

There was NOT ONE offering from any LEADERSHIP at Ouisie's for the inconvenience and the bad customer service we experienced. WHAT BUSINESS DOES THIS? I'll tell you, one that takes it's customers and it's fortune for granted. The food, service, and ambiance at this price point should have been spectacular considering we were gracious enough to wait it out. However, the lamb chops were overcooked, no bread served with the meals and, one of the orders was completely wrong.

The last offense was when the waitress served me the tiniest cheesecake I've ever seen (with a candle) in honor of my BD. We had already ordered deserts but, I thought that was nice of her considering no one asked for it. Then, I was told there was a charge on the bill for it. WTH! SHAMEFUL!

MY BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION WAS...

We recently celebrated our wedding at Ouisie's Table and I can honestly say it was the BEST experience we could have ever hoped for. Upon researching numerous wedding venues, my now in-laws happened to stumble upon this hidden gem called Ouisie's Table. At first we were skeptical, but as soon as we tried their food, we were sold. Yassine and Adam are brothers who work together to manage the restaurant. They were both extremely kind, patient, warm, accommodating and answered all our questions in a timely manner. Their staff was very attentive, professional, and made us feel welcomed. I LOVED how the staff was also vibing with us and our guests throughout the night. Their whole team added the perfect ambiance to our wedding celebration and gave us the sense of a family atmosphere. Ouisie's is quaint and cozy which is the exact vibe we were looking for in a venue. They offered numerous cocktail hour options, fixed and buffet menu options, and dessert options customizable to each event. We went with the fixed menu option and opted to switch out our dessert course for a wedding cake. This was the best decision because our wedding cake was absolutely GORGEOUS! Our family and friends were truly impressed that the restaurant made our wedding cake and couldn't stop raving about how delicious the cake was! In fact, all our guests raved about all they food served! We honestly cannot thank Yassine, Adam, and the whole Ouisie's Table staff for helping us create the MOST WONDERFUL memories of our wedding. We look forward to hopefully working with Ouisie's again for future events, or at the very least, for lunch, brunch, and/or dinner! Warmest Regards, James and Merielle

Our team reserved Lucy's porch for a new year's lunch with a major client. We had a prix fix menu with two starter options - soup or salad, choice from 5 different entrees, and choice of dessert between Tres Leche and chocolate cake. Each table held 9-10 people. Drink orders came first, with most at my table choosing water or unsweetened ice tea. Several types of sweeteners were available in a ramekin on the table. Artfully arranged pipings of butter were placed on bread-sized plates for the table occupants to share. Each guest was given a set of three mini-muffins. One was a dark, moist and slightly sweet pumpkin spice flavor; one was a corn muffin; and the third was a lighter color with small flecks of chopped peppers in a more biscuit texture. The salad/soup course began the server orchestration. Our table was surrounded by servers, and each guest received their selection of soup or salad at the same time. NY garden salad had a very light citrus Vinegrette. After the first course was cleared, the entrees were all delivered in synch. I had the parmesan crusted chicken breast with artichoke, nushroom& lemon remoulade, mashed potatoes and green beans. Others had shrimp & grits; a crab topped trout; a vegetarian paella or short ribs with mashed potatoes, carrots & snap peas. My chicken was excellent and the portion size generous. I could only finish 75%. For desert I had the dark chocolate cake. The flavor was not overly sweet but unfortunately the cake was rather dry.

This Houston gem is so good and so worthy of all these five-star reviews! From the speedy valet and friendly hostess to excellent service all through brunch, this was a top-notch experience. Without question, the best crab cakes we've ever had and totally without the occasional crunch of a missed bit of shell that plagues a lot of crab dishes. Delicious hummus and redfish, and cornmeal pancakes that reminded me (favorably) of skillet corncakes my grandmother used to make. Carey's service was just right: attentive and warm without being intrusive. Also, we listened as he patiently and kindly walked a very high-maintenance table behind us through a truly ridiculous number of questions about dessert...with the tray of desserts sitting right there. (How many items are on the sampler dessert platter? How big are the samples? Is the sampler the same price as a single regular portion? Calories per sample? Could this or that be changed? Etc. Just order the d*mn dessert already!) After almost 20 minutes of debate, they did not order dessert and asked for separate checks. Carey was so gracious and smiling all the way. Bravo! If you're looking for amazing Southern dishes with coastal flair, this is your place. Creative cocktails and refreshing mocktails too.
