Was looking forward to this place... what a disappointment. I'll break down the major cons for you here:
Parking- easily one of the worst parking lots in Houston. Full of pretentious jerks in highland Park where everyone goes shopping, but so few parking spots available that it turns into the stalker hunger games. We literally saw two accidents happen within a one hour window.
The food-Completely overpriced for what you are getting.
The service - Our server actually said,"Huh it doesn't usually come like that...?" Proceeds to serve it to us anyway (Husband spent the rest of the day with a sick tummy). We order olives and bread to snack on with our drinks, we receive $8 olives, no bread. Bread finally comes, cold, and the amount you'd give a toddler. We ask for more bread, one more toddler portion.
The space- If you enjoy sitting less than one foot away from total strangers on tables/chairs meant for children and having to whisper so the guy working in the back can't hear you, this place is for you.
Two other items of note- I sent a respectful, yet disappointed email to this restaurant as well as contacting them on IG after my husband was sick. I was told the message was sent to the owner and manager - completely ignored until I posted this review. (Normally I would remove a review like this if something was done to try and rectify the situation, but in this case I'd rather warn y'all and leave it up bc FACTS.) As we left, the woman next to us who appeared to be a regular called the server over to politely give a list of all the stuff wrong with her order...the main concern being that her pizza was cold. How do you serve a cold pizza somewhere it's supposed to be baked fresh?
Skip this place - it's a total IG trap meant to make you spend your coins, with not even the bare minimum in return. So many better options that won't leave you...
Read moreThis is an absolute gem. We stumbled upon it for Houston Restaurant Weeks looking for Italian cuisine. Website says open until 9:30 so it was perfect. The restaurant weeks menu was diverse & the portions insane for the price & quality of food. The beef tortellini and cacio e pepe were simply divine as well as the chocolate cake. The tiramisu? Whole other level! We'd give 5 stars but unfortunately we didn't feel like our business was wanted when trying to make a reservation & felt the same upon arriving. We called to make a reservation at 8:45 & were told it was too late because the kitchen closes at 9. So we asked when the latest would be and he proceeded to tell us, "... 8:45... or sooner." We were initially completely turned off by the weird interaction but were genuinely curious about trying their menu so decided later to just reserve online anyway, which had reservations as late as 9P open by the way. Upon arrival (at 8:40), the restaurant was empty with only 1 table seated. We were greeted but not directed to sit so I asked if anywhere was okay & the gentleman stopped me & asked if we had a reservation...? Felt unwelcoming, the place was empty? Later, after another table arrived & ordered, he was speaking loudly in the kitchen to the staff so customers could hear, "the kitchen closes at 9 and after this pizza, I'm shutting it all down'!" Yikes. Anyway, the service besides that was top tier, the food unbelievably delicious, place...
Read moreI've never been to a place that nailed presentation but failed on the food! The food here is mis-named at best and downright bad at worst. The foccia is actually naan they threw on the cooktop. The olive oil to dip in is bottom shelf quality. No spices/flavoring. Cacio e pepe looked good coming out in the cheese, but tasted awful. It tasted of uncooked flour. They definitely threw some flour (or possibly cornstarch) in the sauce to thicken it but didn't cook it all the way. I assume this was because the pasta water was in a giant pot and being reused constantly. The cannelloni con funghi was microwaved and I don't think it was actually veal. It had the color, texture, and flavors of a high quality chorizo. The pasta was hard in some spots and rubbery and others, probably from improper storage or microwaving. The tiramisu was not tiramisu. There were no lady fingers there was no espresso, it was a cream cake that they dumped creaming cocoa powder on, and it wasn't even high quality cocoa powder, not Dutch processed just something off the shelf from Aldi. I had spoken about going here with my friends, but after visiting I told them not...
