Pappasito's Cantina — Restaurant in Houston

This was my first visit to this location. I loved the outside and inside atmosphere. The host was nice, however, I feel she was not too much of a greeter like I am use too. She also could not say what her favorite dish or what was popular on the menu. We waited for a booth which took approximately 5-8 minutes. Christian was our waiter, he as well was not too familiar with the top sellers on the menu, he would atleast respond to our questions although he was very quick with his responses as well as quickly walking away. I understand a restaurant this big causes for some waiters to be everywhere at once, believe me I have been a waitress for many years. He was nice enough to let us be aware about the beef steak coming out medium well. It was ask to be cooked a little longer. Once Christian brought our steak you could tell right away it was still medium well. He offered to bring it to the back to cook more but what we wanted was it to be well done before even receiving all our food. Now Shattle, there is a reason why she is manger. She is very knowledgeable on the top sellers. She also provided us with her personal favorite dish before we actually decided on what we wanted. We ended up expressing to her our complaint not even expecting anything in return. Out of the kindness of her heart she had a new batch made up the correct way. The food was excellent as usual. The service was very disappointing. We asked to be seated on the deck and the hostess was very accommodating, however no one showed up for about 15-20 minutes. Then a very pleasant young lady named Yasmine came by and asked if anyone had served us and we said no. She was extremely helpful and took our drink orders even going above the call of duty asking the bartenders what they would recommend for our taste for pineapples. She brought our drinks and informed us our server would be with us shortly. Our server was efficient as well but I'm not certain if he was the same person who served the only other couple on the deck and completely ignored us. I did not get his name because he did not impress me at all. The experience was completely ruined when another man informed us that he would begin stacking the tables to signify the closing of the deck. But when he began to sweep as we were eating, it was very inappropriate. Our meal was completely interrupted and we knew we had been signalled to leave. This was not my first time at this Papasitos and I have always enjoyed my dining experiences there. I had bragged to my dining partner that about the food and he was impressed with it as well. However, the staff working tonight could use a little educating on customer service and etiquette in cleaning with customers...

I'll start by stating the management and waiter did an excellent job with our issue.

I'll add that my companion and I are vegetarians. This was my first experience at this establishment.

This is NOT the place for that lifestyle.

There was only one choice for me and that was a side salad. However another salad option caught my eye which had two prices one for chicken at $16.99 and a pricier option for another meat choice. I am not happy that i was charged full price for the chicken even though I did not get chicken.

My companion had a craving for cheese enchiladas. That was a horrible mistake. I had the first bite fresh from the kitchen. It was COLD A.F. Because the enchilada sauce was made with chicken stock it was basically a cheese quesadilla. Very tasteless. With the managers help we had that dish removed from our tab.

The salsa was very uneventful too. I did not enjoy it much.

I suppose I could agree that I had a different expectation when trying this place out and did not realize it was basically a chain like a buffet or fancy fast food joint. Clearly I am not the demographic they are looking for and that is fine.

I will conclude that this is NOT for vegetarians or vegans and overall the food was quite disappointing.
