This particular Saltgrass Steak House on 1803 Shepherd in Houston, Texas is phenomenal. I called and inquired at several locations in Houston and this location Ms. Camille was able to accommodate my idea of throwing my mother 89th Birthday Dinner at this location. When I say this location is phenomenal, let me break it down to you. I initially started off with a possible 20 people. Then it went to 22 people. At that point Camille suggested the party room with a controlled menu option in order to accommodate with efficient service from them. She sent me an email with details. About 3 days later Dustin called to verify the count, the number had increased but I advised him, that people desired the option to order whatever not the group controlled menu etc. He stated that wasn't a problem, it would be just little longer on preparing for your group. I stated no problem. He then asked, did I want the bar set-up, I declined not too many drinkers, so no they can order the regular way. Roger the other manager to confirm everything. We still on the page with details just the number count increase, he stated I will need an additional wait and informed me of that cost and it could be added to my bill at the end.
Upon arrival Sunday, January 29,2023 for 2pm Reservation but arrival I told all guest to arrive at 1pm because Surprise Birthday Dinner. And knowing my family they' re not going to show up on time but surprisingly they did and James, Event Manager allowed us into the party room before they finish the setup for us. We were okay with that because we needed to do a little decorations as well.
My mother arrived at 2:30pm instead of 2pm due to weather and major accident that had traffic in a chokehold. She was completely surprised and James and Jerald or Jerrod (waiter) was absolutely amazing. They handle everyone's orders etc. They were accommodating with music and very personable with family members. The atmosphere was such a high energy vibe that everyone from my mother 89, Aunt's 86 and 84 and siblings from ages 69 down to myself 52 and all the grandkids had a great time. The food was great.
The space was roomie and gave everyone the opportunity to interact like they were at a private house event but in a restaurant being serviced. If you ever need a space and a all American Steakhouse Menu is needed please think about this location and the event staff.
I've never seen staff laughing this hard while working. So they are great and very grateful we were blessed with them as our staff.
I did ask them at the end did we take care of them properly for as their gratuities. An I was able to see they both had dimples, so that tells me that was a yes plus they said they were happy with it.
I will come to this location at all times to eat, instead of the one further down I-10 regardless if it's closer to my residence. My money will take care of this location. Keep up the fabulous work you guys, because you never know how you impact people with your service and details of accommodating guests and it can be a 10-fold blessing to your establishment.
Corporate Office if you're reading this please give these guys I mentioned as well as your cooking staff who prepared our meals our blessings and big shout-out kudos from The Richardson Family.
P.S. I think people brought steak seasoning as well.🤗
Thank you for making my mother's 89th birthday great on her actual birthday.

Read moreI love saltgrass but this location was a bad experience on mothers day, my daughter made a Reservation a month prior and it didn't do any good the table was not big enough so they sat us in the back in a room they call the extended room, to me it was like the supply room where there was only one table..they took a long time for everything, drinks, for the complimentary bread they bring out which they usually bring plates with that, we had no plates..Then they brought us water in plastic cups, we didn't know what was going on with that so we finally called the Mgr.. Mgr apologized, sd we'll get plates, the glasses for water etc etc. Then They took our order, 2hrs passed still no food, finally Mgr came sd 10 to 15 min for the kids pizza to come out, we sd good the kids were hungry and tired of waiting. When they finally brought the pizza they brought them on dirty plates, my daughter in law felt dry food under the plate, found a hair under as well and greasy l over as if they just wiped the plates instead of washing them, one of my granddaughters was sitting next to me and I touch the plate it was very greasy and dirty in the bottom as well! The Mgr stated they were over their capacity so I beleive that they were overwhelmed with customers they just tried to clean the plates instead of washing which is unsanitary! It was such a bad experience and unprofessional how they handled our seating especially cuz my daughter made reservations a Month before.. We had to leave..we all had drinks and In my opinion we should have gotten those drinks free! I don't understand why a place as small as this one has over capacity if they can't handle it.. People can get sick with dirty plates! I would not recommend this location to anyone saltgrass is a very nice restaurant I love their food, not sure about this one maybe it's poor management at...
Read moreI hosted a private party for 15 on Saturday to celebrate my birthday, and it was very disappointing. The party package I paid for included a bartender, yet they had one person waiting the tables AND making drinks. For a party of 15!? David did his best, at first I thought he was being a bit difficult but honestly he was not set up for success by his team. When the manager, Sean came to check on us, I asked him could we please get another server, since I was expecting a separate bartender. He responded that I did not pay for the bartender (which I had) and did not try to assist further the way a manager should. The bathroom was broken and dirty. Nobody was offered beverages, a guest had to request water for the table. (The package included drinks, never got them). We were told that a party of our size had to all get medium steaks. How can you tell paying customers the temperature of meat they must accept!? Longhorn would never. Half of my guests put hot dinner into Togo boxes, they were annoyed and frustrated by the time the food came. I paid for 15 desserts and only got 12. In the end, there were somehow still unpaid for dinners that I had to put on my tab, poor David was overwhelmed and was taking 5 minutes per guest to check them out. He even made a comment that he believed someone walked out on their food, which is offensive to say the least. I could go on and on. My party had a lot of potential but the poor customer service of this location ruined my experience. I’ve been to many Saltgrass locations before, this was my 1st time on Shepherd and this left a bad enough taste in my mouth to just take my money elsewhere...
