Stumbled on this little gem in the heights. Apparently they're in their soft opening stages, so its new new!
Came in and was in awe with the chandelier and decorations. they had golden silverwares.
There was a group of 8 of us, and we pretty much did family style. Everything came out fresh and beautiful. For the heights area, the prices on these dishes were VERY affordable, especially with everything going up through inflation.
We ordered
the honey jalapeno wings - good sizes, slightly dry, very flavorful, not too overwelming, the jalapeno gave it a slight kick, but not too spicy. the thai basil gave it a excellent balance. 8/10
Spicy Garlic Wings - crispy, not too over seasoned of garlic, very flavorful 9/10
Beef Stew - slow simmered braised beef stew, alot of meats, alil earthy, but tender and moist meats. feels really homie. 8/10
Laos Papaya Salad - super fresh veggies of combination of cherry tomatoes, crab, fish sauce, eggplants, cabbage, and papaya. it had a good spice kick to it, that leaving you craving for more. it was super flavorful and crunchy. 8/10
Pad Thai - mixed with multiple ingredience, i can tell it was made with love. variety of different veggies, eggs, noodles, peanuts, fused together into a symphony of a dish. noodles were soft, and flavors werent too overwhelming that you can taste each ingredients. 9/10
Chow Mein Kee mao - pleasantly surprised, never had chow mein style before. similar to the pad thai, but it gives it a fresh new twist. its slightly more citristy since no peanuts, layered with veggies and chilis. 8/10
Dry Noodles - what a treat, this dish had fish balls, minched pork, ground peanuts, pork skins etc, and steam egg. balance of protein all around, meaty dish, that has a great amount of chilis. 10/10

Read moreLunch at Son Boom Thai Kitchen today on Durham at I-10 at 12:15 with two friends. They are still in their soft opening phase and have to iron out a few things but it seems promising.
When we arrived we were the only customers but by the time we left there were 3 other parties.
They are still on their soft opening menu which is substantial but they are not yet offering everything on the website (no curries).
I had egg rolls and stir fried vegetables with shrimp. My friends had Pad See Ewe and a dry noodle with broth. We all liked what we had and all said we would go back.
The servers were very friendly and accommodating but service needs some tweaks. It is currently BYOB and we bought wine which the server acknowledged, but after 15 minutes and after ordering we had to remind him we needed wine glasses.
They brought out the mains one at a time and there was 10 minutes from when the first of us got our meal until we were all served our main dish.
I asked for my dish medium spicy and there was no spice at all. I ordered stir fry with shrimp and extra shrimp for $3 and there were just 4 shrimp total in the bowl. I did not ask or complain.
We asked to split our bill on 3 cards and told it was not a problem. The server used an iPhone and the only person who could tip on their card was the last card entered.
So, some kinks to work out but the space is pleasant and everything we ordered was yummy. The food was delicious. Will definitely give it...
Read moreCame here with some friends and had such a great time! We got lucky where it wasn't too busy so we didn't have to wait long. The service was great with friendly staff! They would come by to refill your water and check on you frequently. We didn't feel like we had to hunt our waitress down.
There is a parking lot right in front of the restaurant so parking was easy. Unlike other nearby restaurants where we have to find street parking.
There are a great variety of options on the menu that we had trouble narrowing down what to pick. We did family style with Egg Rolls, Tiger Cry, Green Bean, Dry Noodles, and Crab Fried Rice. Everything was made to order which you know it will be fresh and hot when it comes out.
The egg rolls are crispy and delicious and came with a sweet chill dipping sauce. We order medium rare for the Tiger Cry and it came with two dipping sauce. Love both of the sauce. You couldn't go wrong with either sauce. Honestly this could be an entree with how big it is but it's under their appetizers. Everyone was able to get more than one piece to eat. The green beans were SOOO GOOD! I know it's just green beans but one of the best green beans I have ever had. Crispy and lighten coated with a sauce. Delicious! The dry noodle was seasoned well where it was not soggy and the tofu was crispy. My favorite dish has to be the crab fried rice. There were good piece of crab in the fried rice and...
