Meh. Glad I finally tried it, but a little disappointed I passed up the Chick-fil-A in the same shopping center for the new try. CfA is always a sure bet. Immediately when I entered, an employee (who seemed to be the manager judging by her blue polo verses the black polos everyone else was wearing) was on the phone (SPEAKER PHONE, that is) talking very loudly with what seemed to be another coworker about a mystery shopper who had been in the store. A mystery or secret shopper is a type of market research that uses a shopper to act as a true customer to evaluate the customer experience in-person, over the phone, or online. She was telling the other person she couldn't believe the mystery shopper was real and said she looked like a regular person THEN went onto to say the shopper looked like a low life. I am seriously surprised the woman didn't catch my looks of disapproval and annoyance. Talk about terrible customer service and not handling things professionally! I ordered my meal with another associate and made my way to the drink counter. They have sweet tea and lemonade. Mixed them both together and made myself an Arnold Palmer - which was pretty good. The blue polo shirt speaker phone lady was still going on but this time something about bonuses for her employees. She finally hung up as I was getting seated. My tenders meal arrived to my table in a timely fashion. The tenders were piping hot. I could tell they were "made to order" as their murals indicate. I chose ranch, garlic parmesan and gravy for my dips. The ranch was very good. Nice and cold plus full of creamy flavor. The garlic parmesan was like cold lemon herb sauce which was terrible. The gravy was lumpy and had no flavor, even after I added black pepper. The tenders themselves were pretty good. The coating is minimal, so they weren't greasy. The Texas toast was bland, and the fries were basic. Not impressed with the meal at all. 3 stars is more than I should give. As I am sitting there trying to make the meal the best I could, blue polo shirt speaker phone lady came back out to help a customer who walked into order. Mid order, she took her lip balm out of her pocket and applied it liberally to her lips then completed the order. I was floored. I can’t understand how this woman is a manager. That is so bad to do in front of customers. She just though a mystery shopper was bad. Does she have any idea about reviewers who reach a bigger audience?! This is when I wish I wasn't such an observant person. Speaking of observant. I noticed the only car in the parking lot close to the store never moved while I was dining. I was the only person in the store until the man walked in 20 minutes after me. I saw him park near me in the extended area parking. With that said, who was parked there? An employee?? Those spaces should be saved for customers. That's customer service 101. All in all, I am being generous with my 3 stars....
Read moreToday I had the misfortune of dining at Slim Chicken, and my experience was nothing short of a nightmare. I ordered a simple chicken wrap and ice, thinking it would be a quick and easy meal. Little did I know that I was in for a rollercoaster of humiliation.
When the food was delivered by Debbie downer Bellie Jo A, she quickly realized that I had gotten a Coke instead of the just ice instead of noticing her own mistake (it was supposed to be in the cheese tortilla not the spinach tortilla!). No big deal, right? Well, apparently it was a big deal to Bellie Jo A. Instead of simply just taking the drink away and getting me a ice water, she decided to publicly shame me in front of the entire restaurant, yelling and accusing me of being a thief for getting a coke! I understand that I should have just paid for the coke in the first place but I was taken aback by the unprofessionalism and lack of tact displayed by the staff, especially Bellie Jo A. I'm all for accountability, but there's a time and place for addressing mistakes, and publicly humiliating customers is definitely not the way to go about it.
In response to her baseless accusations, I gave my uneaten food back and asked for a refund, as I refuse to tolerate being treated like a criminal in an establishment where I'm spending my hard-earned money. This was by far the worst treatment I have ever received at any establishment, and it left me questioning the integrity of Slim Chicken's staff and company core values.
It's a shame because the food itself is great every time, but the appalling customer service and toxic atmosphere overshadows any positive aspects. With the neighboring Chick-fil-A, Cane's and Dave's Hot Chicken offering a much more pleasant experience, Slim Chickens has some serious competition – and rightfully so.
Despite giving Slim Chicken multiple chances (five times to be exact), today's disgraceful encounter will be my last. I strongly advise anyone considering dining at Slim Chicken to think twice and opt for a more customer-friendly alternative. It's clear that they have a long way to go in terms of customer service and creating a welcoming atmosphere for...
