In Texas, we take BBQ seriously. This place doesn’t disappoint! This place has been around for decades. It’s under new management, and now it’s even better! The brisket was sooo tender and flavorful, and they have all the meats, sides, and fixings you would expect to have with tasty BBQ. The guy in charge is a master of his craft. Best part about it, eating here didn’t break the bank compared to other BBQ places. It’s walking distance from BBVA and Minute Maid Park, so coming here for cold brews and tasty BBQ after a game is something I’m definitely looking forward to!

Update: Thursday Lunch Steak special Ribeye with 2 veggies. Large portion, steak tasty but had grissle. Also spoke with owner who said " they are not closing" contrary to what an earlier post said. Baked Chicken Lunch with 2 Veggies. Chicken came with potatoes. Side -Green beans-carrots (would not order this side again but carrots in the green beans was different and they were good). Baked chicken was small but was plenty for me. Cafateria style. Also BBQ lunch. Coffee good. Plenty of parking, reasonable price and not crowded. Will return. East side of downtown.

The staff is very nice and friendly. The atmosphere portrays the nostalgia and scene of Texas in general with all the antiques and wildlife trophies; but, the bar-b-que (or should I say Oven-que) need lots of work..I didn't get even a hint of smoked flavor in my half-chicken dish - the Breast was too dry. The cornbread-whatever part didn't land in my mouth after I took a bite crumbled out of my hands. This is definitely not Texas-style BBQ.

Visited this place for lunch today. Met my husband there. He said he was standing there waiting. It is confusing when you walk in. I got the fish, it was bass, it was cold. It came with 2 sides. The macaroni was good. The broccoli was tasteless and soggy. The husband got the brisket plate with beans and mashed potatoes. He said Pappas bbq was better. Would have probably come back to try another food. I would also like to point out that my husband was standing at the counter waiting for me and not once did the cashier ask him if he needed help. She didnt know he was waiting for me. I walked in and we kind of stumbled around figuring what we needed to do to order until I asked a girl behind the line. However, a group of women walk in and and she asks if they need help and immediately shows them how to order. Will not be back because of that. I should have listened to him and went...
