Only had the popcorn chicken at this location, this time, but it was wonderful! Iāve had it at other locations many many times. Overall solid 5/5 for the fried foods. Honestly Taiwanese popcorn chicken has always been one of my all-time favorites, and there have only been a few places that have really really nailed it (the way I like at least!). Funny enough one of the places is Teahouse (but not all locations! I personally think this location and the one on Yale street in the Heights have the best seasoning, but others across Houston havenāt been the best at seasoning.) I have additionally worked remotely from here, and the vibe is nice. Itās not too loud or busy, the decor is nice, and the bathrooms and tables are clean with no sticky residue that you often find at places with drinks like boba. For boba, I am very particular. I used to work at a boba shop, and Iāve ordered it from many different places. All I can say is that Teahouse tapioca is not very nice. When they first open or when they put out a fresh batch, itās nice. However, it doesnāt stay good very long and they clearly leave it out without a warmer, so it ends up getting kind of tough in the middle as boba tends to when it gets cold. The tea itself swaps between being very nice and kind of being mid. You can easily tell when people arenāt actually following all the directions for prep and end up winging it. 3/5 for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOne store down from Akashi (Chinese restaurant) so could be a good after lunch/dinner pick me up. Parking is ample as with everything in this very large strip mall which contains Akashi, Olive Garden, Dimassi's, Ross, Asahi Sushi, and so so much more. More than possibly can be named in one review.
One of many, many of the same chain of tapioca joints in town. It's new so still very clean, and the decorations are just adorable with the neon signs and such. They've even decorated for the holidays with little paper santa hats and bottle brush trees and it just makes the whole place seem very festive.
Another thing to note is that for the first time at a Teahouse I saw that all the staff were non-asians. Go Teahouse for being inclusive!
There's board games as with most other Teahouse locations; and a sign asking for donations of gently used games.
This location is rather, small so not great for hanging out for long periods of time with large parties. They do have outlets but only 2 that I could see and they're both in tall tables to the right just...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy friends and I are from out of town and weāre staying at a hotel nearby. After checking their hours, we decided to make the walk to The Teahouse (about a 20 minute walk from our hotel in the Texas heat), but as soon as we arrived, the employees were picking up chairs and said āsorry, weāre closed for an hour.ā
Iām not complaining about them taking a lunch break at all, Iām definitely all for taking breaks and making sure employees have time to eat. I just wish this hour was reflected in hours posted online and on the door. The hours posted were 10 am - 10 pm with no mention of an hour closure. I didnāt want to give just one star since we didnāt get a chance to try anything but I definitely wish we hadnāt have made the walk just to have to walk back with nothing. This review is just to offer feedback to the restaurant to make sure the hours posted reflect any closures and to warn other people who are new to the area that they close from 11 am - 12...
