How to Survive Houston with a Smile, Part 2️⃣: Around the Medical Center

How to Survive Houston with a Smile, Part 2️⃣: Around the Medical Center

Nestled adjacent to NRG Stadium, the iconic Astrodome holds a special place in my heart. My upbringing in the Houston suburbs afforded my family and me the opportunity to attend numerous Astros games, Rodeos, and Concerts at this historic venue. These outings created lasting impressions, particularly the thrilling moments spent waiting for players to emerge post-game for autographs and personal interactions. While the Astrodome is no longer open for events, its legacy as a significant cultural and sports hub in Houston's history remains intact. For families seeking to explore the city's rich past, it's worth noting that the Astrodome is a symbol of a bygone era, offering a glimpse into the vibrant sports and entertainment history of Houston. Although you can't attend events there now, it still stands as a historic landmark, a place that bridges generations and holds a special spot in the hearts of many who have cherished memories of its heyday.

The Eighth Wonder of the World Still Stands Tall 🏟️⭐🚀continues to stand tall, serving as a true testament to Texas pride and a lasting symbol of American sports history. I was lucky enough to catch a couple of games during its winding-down years, and even though those final seasons were quieter, the stories, energy, and memories still soar—just the way NASA would want. 🌌👨‍🚀🛰️ A legendary venue that changed the game forever, and a place that still holds a special place in the hearts of fans across generations.

I'm not gonna lie, the Astrodome will always have a place in this native Houstonians heart! She is a beauty and was also one on the inside in her day. So many memories....ball games, rodeo, livestock shows, home shows, boat shows, Love ya Blue football games and pep rallies and tours every time family came in town.

My Dad was a master electrician on the building of the Dome and worked there after it was completed. I don't think anyone who has not been in Houston for over 55-60 years should be allowed to vote on her future. I'm proud of what she stands for and it's as if we have...

Such an iconic building and structure that you can feel the history, passion, and memories even from the outside. It is SUCH A SHAME that Harris County leaders are so inept and selfish that they failed to do anything with this amazing piece of history. Convert it into a museum, a city park, a studio, a waterpark, but please don't leave this place to rott like they have for almost 15+ year now. We must hold our city leaders from the mayor to county judge responsible for this ignorance and disrespect to city of Houston and how important this place is...
