Like going to your grandmother's, if your grandmother was a killer chef!!

Clean, comfortable and great food w/ a variety of menu items. Staff was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful! Looks are deceiving, the neighborhood is not a reflection of the warmth inside.

Stopped in for lunch and asked what was good and the owner brought out a bowl of "Fresh Herbed Spaghetti w/ Mozzarella and Shrimp".

Pretty coolers upon arrival, w/ abundant, plump and pink shrimp w/ a side of crispy, fragrant garlic toast on the side, pasta on point.

Smelled so good...

WOW! What a flavor bomb in my mouth! And the side piece of crispy, fragrant garlic toast? Definitely needed as I used it to get every morsel of that amazing herbed sauce in the bowl!!

This place is deceiving. Very neighborhood/mom and pop kinda look from the outside but WOW, the food was outstanding!

Can't wait to go back and have more!!

I do have a problem though... Do I order the same thing b/c I KNOW how good that is or try something new... hmmm... We shall see!

PS Sorry for the pasta pick. It WAS a full bowl but as u can read above I was slightly distracted and it took a minute to reconnect my brain and take the pix. ;)

Go and eat,...

Vargas Morning Bloom Cafe is a must visit. Maria is a well known chef in the Northside of Houston. Her Friday fish fry’s can have a line out the door during lent season. She use to cook for the priest at Holy Name church, where she whipped up a variety of global dishes. She’s bringing her expertise to her own cafe with sous chef daughter’s. Their homemade dishes from scratch are outstanding. Each time I visit I try something new, and it never disappoints.

The place is unassuming, but kept clean and tidy. It’s like a hole in the wall but like your at Abuelas (grandma’s) kitchen table.

So far I have had the Chilaquiles, Costra tacos with chicharones, fish fry gorditas and all the tacos So Delicious! Among other dishes.

They also have a daily special that is always worth trying. You will not be disappointed.

Update went back and had the coco quinoa porrage and my daughter had the biscuits and gravy. The homemade biscuits are amazing!

You have to visit this place. Just be prepared to wait a little for the food to hit the table. Remember everything is truely from scratch. It’s worth the wait! Did I mention how affordable it is too. Looking forward to...

I stumbled across this gem a couple of weeks ago—it's tucked away in Houston’s Northside Village, where I live, and I finally stopped in for breakfast and lunch. So glad I did!

The iced coffee with cloud foam is incredible—smooth, rich, and not overly sweet. Their iced café de olla? Tastes like a spirit-free carajillo. It’s warm, spiced, and absolutely delicious. I was also pleasantly surprised to see fajitas on the lunch menu for just $16. Oh, and the pancakes? So fluffy, I almost didn’t want to share.

The café itself is cozy and friendly, with a neighborhood charm that makes you want to linger. My only tiny suggestion: it can get a bit warm inside, so a little extra AC wouldn’t hurt—especially during Houston summers.

Still, this spot is a total win, and I’ll definitely be back. Vargas Morning Bloom Café is a...

A literal gem in the village. The restaurant is so cute and the menu is Mexican-Indian eclectic. I met the owner and she’s absolutely lovely. Her mother is the chef and Letty runs front of house. I had the chilaquiles and they were delicious. My friend had a simple egg and bacon plate. It was refreshing to have a simple, delicious breakfast with no fuss and service is exceptional. The vibe was mi casa es su casa. I highly recommend visiting this establishment.
