I live in the neighborhood and frequent this particular spot. I’m leaving a review because this is my second time being in the establishment when Joe Kess was working and I am very displeased with his service and actions as a manager.
On a previous encounter, when I told him my to-go order, he commenced to instruct me on what came with my order. I told him I was ordering something different then what he was recalling. He told me I wasn’t. We went back and forth before I pulled out a menu to show him what I was ordering. He keep insisting I was incorrect. Once he saw, he then goes on to tell me about what was on the menu he was talking about. I know what I want. I don’t need to know what u don’t. I left this encounter not to happy. But hey we all make mistakes
On today, open entering I noticed the Waffle House was packed. I walked straight to the register. The girl taking names and assigning tables asked if I was placing my order to go. I nodded yes. I then stood in front of the register for about 10-15 mins without any acknowledgement by the busy crew behind the counter. Joe is there playing expeditor. It isn’t until about 3 tables get up and stand behind me ready to pay that he acknowledges me by asking if I’m placing a to-go order. I said yes. He instructs me to step to the side so he can help the patrons behind me. I give him a nasty look. He then turns around stops a waiter that is walking by and tells him to take my order.
I have the same problem with this waiter as with Joe. I tell him what I’m ordering. He starts telling me what it comes with. I tell him I’m not ordering that. He insists he knows what he is talking about. I ask him for a menu so I can show him. He just stares at me. I ask him again may I have a menu so I can show u. Once I show him he reads what I am ordering. He looks like this is his first time ever seeing this particular item. He takes my order. Once he notifies me my order is ready he quotes me a price. The price is way higher then I recall it should be. I ask him why is it so much. He then proceeds to tell me he rung up a few of items a la carte. I told him those items came with the meal. He said it didn’t. I ask for the menu again. Read it to him. He then goes to the back to talk the manager, Joe, who is now in the back. He comes back and has to talk to another wait staff about the correction before he fixes my total.
I asked him, out of curiosity, since u work a service job how well do you think I should tip u based on your level of service. He then tells me it’s to-go. WOW! I tip him but then I realize I need to leave a review because someone at corporate needs to understand that their employees have missed the concept of the mission statement for Waffle House.

Food was good, but the bacon was a bit over cooked. Service… you guys need to hire waiters/waitresses with better attitudes. One of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had service-wise.
Went there when they weren’t busy and I was the only one there.
This one waitress there…. Her name is “Ashley” Was pretty rude to me from the get go. As soon as I walked in I Asked her if they were still open because the store looked pretty empty and she just gave me an attitude and nasty look. I waited for a full minute before she finally answered. Ooookay…? Not too sure what I did wrong but… yeah.. not too sure what kind of night you had but under no circumstances should you be rude to a customer just walking in… really…
Then, when I was ordering I asked if they still did the all star special (my usual go to when I eat at Waffle House) and she just looked at me as if she saw a ghost. Didn’t even answer. And I had to look through the menu to see that they still did. Really?
THEN when she was serving my food normally a nice waitress would place it gently in front of you and say “here you go!” But she just came to my table and slid the food towards me carelessly. Not too sure but the way she came off made me feel like I was a burden or something. It felt really hostile.
Lastly, my drink was empty and I looked for her to fill my cup again but as she passed by my table -literally while no one else was there- didn’t even ask to see if everything was ok or if I needed a refill….
Was just a really horrible experience and didn’t feel the hospitality, in fact the opposite. Literally the worst dine in experience I’ve had. Even waitresses at dinner/lunch rush hours treat you better. You could say “it is Waffle House” but almost every other time I have been to Waffle House has been a positive experience prior to this visit. Was so bad I definitely had to talk to the manager about it.
If I see that I’m being served by this Ashley person again just going to say that I’m just walking right back out and finding another place to eat.
Waitresses should never be rude otherwise definitely not...
Read moreSo if I had to rate this place I'd give it ZERO stars on the simple fact that their customer service was horrible. I left my purse in the restroom, mind you I'm not from Houston we were in town for a concert. So I left it was maybe 10 mins before I realized I left it behind, so I call let me add I had to call 3 separate times first time phone was answered then hung up, second no answer, anyways finally got someone to answer, at this point in trying to find my way back. So I speak to one of the employees told her what happened she said "oh yea one of my co workers found it and asked around to see if anyone had left it" she said no one claimed it and they had it in the office. I finally make it back to pick up my bag, I check my stuff and $100 was taken out of my wallet. When I went back in to ask to speak to the employee who found my bag the ladies all in the back of the counter I'm guessing they were waitresses, then tell me that they don't know who turned it in and that they just put it away. The hostess tried to tell me something about it and was immediately sent away by one of the waitresses. I wasn't going to argue with them it was their word against mine and more of them than me. I was very disappointed and hate the fact that there are so many dishonest people in this world. I will NEVER come back to this location if I'm ever in...
